Ignition system

The ignition timing is set by the control unit and is not adjustable during operation.
Operating procedure of cylinders of the engine:
four-1-3-4-2
six-cylinder 1-4-3-6-2-5

Elements of system of ignition vehicles with six-cylinder engines
Fig. 4.25. Elements of system of ignition vehicles with six-cylinder engines: 1 - spark plug, 30 Nm; 2 - the tip of the spark plug; 3 - the plug; 4 - the rubber O-ring; 5 - bolt 10 Nm; 6 - Switch the ignition coil with N, N128, N158; 7 - 5-pin electrical connector (black); 8 - 3-pin electrical connector; 9 - bolt 20 Nm; 10 - the gauge of a detonation 2 G66; 11 - knock sensor 1 G61; 12 - bolt 10 Nm; 13 - Hall sensor G40; 14 - bolt 25 Nm; 15 - washer; 16 - a cover; 17 - 3-pin electrical connector (black) of the Hall sensor G40 or G163; 18 - Hall sensor G163

Ignition system (Fig. 4.25) creates in each cylinder of the engine at a certain moment the spark that ignites the compressed fuel mixture. For the formation of a spark in the ignition coil voltage of the battery 12 is converted into a high voltage - 25 000-30 000 V.
To determine the ignition timing control unit uses the information stored in memory and receives from sensors mounted on the engine. Control signals from the ignition system gets a Hall sensor or encoder. Additionally, the control unit adjusts the ignition timing signal from the knock sensor that is sensitive to vibrations caused by premature ignition of the mixture. Upon detection of the detonation control unit reduces the ignition timing.
The tightening torque of the spark plugs 30 N ? m

A WARNING
In order not to damage the semiconductor devices (diodes and transistors) during the work on the ignition system, you must meet the following requirements:
- During operation of the engine, do not disconnect the battery, generator or any electric sockets;
- When carrying out any work, remove the negative terminal from the battery;
- During the electric welding on the vehicle, disconnect the generator and control unit;
- Do not operate the engine disconnected from the electrical system generator.
Do not touch the high-voltage wires by hand and do not remove them when the engine is running or during cranking of the engine starter.
Cables and wires, ignition system of measuring instruments connected and disconnected only when the ignition is switched off.
The motor can be cleaned with the ignition off.
