Overview

The exhaust system is to bring the exhaust gas into the atmosphere and prevents them from getting even the minimum amount in the interior of the vehicle and reduces engine noise. To the exhaust system could work properly, it must be intact. Status exhaust system also affects the engine power and fuel consumption.
The exhaust system consists of a final collector a reception exhaust pipe, center and rear mufflers and catalytic converter.

Exhaust front-wheel drive with six-cylinder petrol engines: 1 - a bolt, 40 Nm; 2 - of the catalyst; 3 - a bolt; 4 - a collar; 5 - bolt 25 Nm; 6 - Suspension of the issue; 7 - central silencer; 8 - an arm; 9 - suspension of the issue; 10 - rear silencer; 11 - a collar; 12 - Place of cutting the pipe connecting the center and rear mufflers; 13 - Front silencer

The elements of the exhaust system (Fig. 4.26, 4.27, 4.28, 4.29) are connected by means of threaded connections or clamps.

NOTE
When assembling the exhaust system replaced with new all gaskets and self-locking nuts.
After the maintenance or repair of exhaust system, make sure that its details have been set free, stress-free, with a sufficient gap relative to the vehicle.
When you install the lambda probe 9 (see. Fig. 4.26), 5 (see. Fig. 4.27), apply a thread on its high-temperature grease G 052 112 A3.
The connecting element in the receiving exhaust pipe should not be bent more than 10 ?, since otherwise it may be damaged.

Location clamp connecting a reception exhaust pipe and muffler on the central front wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles with four-cylinder engines
Fig. 4.30. Location clamp connecting a reception exhaust pipe and muffler on the central front wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles with four-cylinder engines

When connecting a reception exhaust pipe to a central muffler clamp set, positioning it so that the bottom edge of the clamp bolts located at the level of exhaust pipe (Fig. 4.30). On front-wheel and all-wheel drive vehicles with four-cylinder engines Clamp should be positioned on the left side.

Location clamp connecting the center and rear mufflers on vehicles with front-wheel drive four-cylinder engines
Fig. 4.31. Location clamp connecting the center and rear mufflers on vehicles with front-wheel drive four-cylinder engines: 1 - the fuel tank; a = 30 ?

When connecting the center and rear mufflers on front-wheel drive set the collar, place it so that the clamp collar at an angle of 30 ? to the vertical side of the fuel tank (Fig. 4.31 and 4.32). Bolt clamp to be inserted from the top.

Fitting the collar when connecting to the center and rear mufflers front-wheel drive
Fig. 4.32. Fitting the collar when connecting to the center and rear mufflers front-wheel drive

When connecting the center and rear mufflers on front-wheel drive set the collar, place it so that the bottom edge of the clamp bolts located at the level of exhaust pipe (see. Fig. 4.30), but the Clamp should be positioned on the right side.
To help loosen grease nuts and the bolts securing the exhaust system, high temperature grease Liqui Moly LM-508-ASC.
Before re-installing the system components, clean the place of their connection with sandpaper from the remnants of sealant and rust.

Fasteners front of a reception pipe to a body on the four-wheel drive cars with manual gearbox
Fig. 4.33. Fasteners front of a reception pipe to a body on the four-wheel drive cars with manual gearbox: 1 - buffer; 2 - plug; 3 - a washer; 4 - right stretching; 5 - drive; 6 - bolt 25 Nm; 7 - spacer; 8 - left stretching; 9 - a spring; 10 - bolt 25 Nm; 11 - Self-locking nut, 25 Nm

In four-wheel drive vehicles with a six-cylinder engine suspension part of the front of the exhaust system to the body vary in design depending on the type of transmission (Figs. 4.33 and 4.34).
