Overview

Engine cooling system liquid, closed type, includes a water pump, a radiator fan clutch termovyazkostnoy or electric radiator, expansion tank, thermostat, radiator heater hoses and switches. The water pump is driven by a belt from the crankshaft.
When starting a cold engine thermostat valve is closed. Coolant does not flow into the radiator, and is circulated through the jacket of the block and the cylinder head, then flows into the pump. This ensures fast heating of the cold engine. When the coolant reaches a certain temperature, the thermostat valve opens and the hot coolant flows through the radiator and the hose to the oncoming air stream is cooled. Termovyazkostnaya clutch radiator fan is switched depending on the temperature of the heat sink. Upon reaching a certain temperature in the sleeve valve opens and starts to rotate the impeller fan.

A WARNING
When you open the cover of a broad tank on the hot engine must be careful, as the escaping steam can cause severe burns. Close the expansion tank with a thick layer of tissue and slowly remove the lid until the hissing sound. After stopping slowly remove hiss to the end and remove the cap from the expansion tank.

Do not allow coolant to clothing and body paint. In case of contact rinse with plenty of water.
All clips and clamps that during disassembly of the cooling system are damaged or cut, the assembly replaced.
To install the belt clamps must use special pliers VAG 1921.
All detachable gaskets and O-rings replaced.
When assembling the follow labels in the form of arrows on the elements of the cooling system - the presence of labels they need to be combined.
Drain coolant must be collected and disposed of.
