Electronic braking system

The brake system of the Passat includes a whole range of electronic devices. On cars the anti-lock system (ABS), which prevents the wheels from locking under heavy braking.
Therefore, even under heavy braking the car remains manageable, as the ABS distributes the braking force between the individual wheels. Thus, blocking of the wheels on one side is not possible.
ABS control unit is connected with the hydraulic system and constantly receives information about the speed of each wheel sensor. In the control unit the information received from the sensor is compared with the programmed values. If the difference between the values of the rotational speed of the wheels of one or more points to the danger of locking, the unit activates the hydraulic unit. The system pressure is reduced to the corresponding wheel until the wheel starts to rotate freely again The brakes. Depending on the condition of the roadway, this process occurs in a matter of milliseconds.
Faults in the ABS does not affect the brake system and an amplifier as a whole. The brakes are operating normally and without ABS. Increased brake operation occurs via the booster that increases the braking force at 60%. For models with petrol engines need a vacuum suction pipe is provided. Gasoline engines with an automatic transmission equipped with a vacuum pump. Diesel engines are also equipped with a vacuum pump or dual pump for supplying fuel and a vacuum.
The function sets the early models of brake controller performs the control unit with a special program for the distribution of the braking force on the rear axle. In other electronically controlled braking system nodes are anti-buksovochnaya system (ASR), the device (EDS), which increases traction and electronic program Stability Program (ESP).
