Power steering

Expansion tank (Fig. 1.56), the power steering is located in the engine compartment near the battery. Before checking the fluid level in the expansion tank should:

- Place the vehicle on a flat surface;

- Set the front wheels in the straight-ahead position;

- Stop the engine.

The fluid level can be seen through the walls of the tank. It must be between the ?«MIN?» and ?«MAX?». Additionally tank cover is formed integrally with the liquid level gauge. If the engine is warm, the fluid level should be close to the label ?«MAX?», if a cold - ?«MIN?», then exceed it.

The power steering in cars manufactured before February 1989 applied liquid Dexron II ATF, on models of future issues - a special oil for hydraulic transmission VW G 002 000.
