Removing the rear axle



Remove the nuts securing the straps connecting the exhaust pipes. Disconnect and remove the rear section of the exhaust system.

Location registration marks and bolts propeller shaft to the rear axle flange

Check whether registration marks on the propeller shaft and rear axle flange (see. Fig. 11.4). In the absence of labels, apply them.
Remove the flange bolts to the flange of the propeller shaft rear axle and a soft wire fix the propeller shaft on the brackets exhaust system.

Remove the bolts and remove thermofilter main reverse gear (Fig. 11.7).
Remove the mounting bolts internal SHRUS rear drive shafts to the rear axle flanges and soft wire fix them on the rear axle.

Remove the nuts rubber mounts rear cross beam without removing the bolts at the same time (Fig. 11.8).
Set at the back of the main transmission with a transmission jack adaptation VAG 1359/2.

Remove the bolts of the left support rear axle (Fig. 11.9).
Remove the screws from the rubber mounts back crossbar.
Carefully lower the rear differential to the rear crossmember and remove it from the bottom of the car.
