Checking the oil level

Check the gearbox for signs of leaks. Remove the cap to fill gear oil, check its level. If the oil is contaminated, it must be replaced.
Remove the oil filler plug to check the level and finger.
The oil level should be at the lower edge of the hole. If the oil level is lower than required, add oil as long as it comes out of the hole, then tighten the plug.
Change the oil in the gearbox, if it is dirty or inadequate viscosity.
