Remove the four screws on the shock absorber bracket (Fig. 5.20).

Dismantling
Special tool (J38402, A-20) compress a spring so that it provided only a small force to the rack.

A WARNING
Do not use an impact tool for tightening nuts spring compressor.

The spring has very big effort of compression, therefore use only very reliable tool. In no case do not connect a spring wire.
When using the special adaptation for compression of springs securely capture the turns of the spring and the spring is compressed from opposite sides.

Using the keys to loosen self-locking nut on the top end of the damper rod
Fig. 5.21. Using the keys to loosen self-locking nut on the top end of the damper rod

Keeping one key shock-absorber rod from rotating, the second key, unscrew the self-locking nut on the top end of the damper rod (Fig. 5.21).
Remove the bracket, bumper, dust cover and the upper spring seat.
Remove the special tools (J38402, A-20) and spring.

Check
Check the rubber parts for damage or destruction.
Check the spring for damage and loss of elasticity.
Check the shock absorber to the absence of uneven resistance or unusual sounds. Install the shock absorber in vertical position and check his work, moving the shock-absorber rod up and down the full length of the course. In all cases, shock-absorber rod should move smoothly, with a noticeable resistance. If the stem moves in jerks or damaged shock absorber must be replaced.

A WARNING
When replacing the shock absorber follow regulations for disposal.

Disposal of the shock absorber. Fully extend the shock-absorber rod.

Plot (A) on which you want to drill a hole to remove the gas from the cylinder shock absorber
Fig. 5.22. Plot (A) on which you want to drill a hole to remove the gas from the cylinder shock absorber

Drill a hole in the area A (Fig. 5.22) for the removal of gas from the cylinder shock absorber.

A WARNING
The effluent gas from the absorber is safe, but care must be taken to avoid injury from flying out during drilling chips.

Assembly
Special Tools J38402, A-20 compress a spring strut rear suspension.

A WARNING
Do not use an impact tool for tightening nuts spring compressor.

After a complete spring set it to shock.
Make a diagram of the installation of the springs according to the classification of loads.
Left spring - spring right
White ............ White
Yellow Yellow .........
Red Red ........
Install the dust cover, the upper spring seat, bracket, washer and by hand tighten a new self-locking nut.
Position the upper and lower ends of the coil spring in grooves in the upper and lower spring seat.

WARNINGS

Location of the spring rear rack
Fig. 5.23. Location of the spring rear rack: 1 - upper spring seat; 2 - a urethane tube of the spring; 3 - the lower spring coil

Perform installation so that the upper spring seat has been correctly mounted to the bracket shock absorber (Fig. 5.23).
Install the spring so that the urethane tube was positioned at the bottom of the spring.

Mounting bracket shock absorber
Fig. 5.24. Mounting bracket shock absorber: a - the outer side of the vehicle

Place the bracket assembly as shown in Fig. 5.24, and tighten a new self-locking nut.
