Removal of sealant



Removal of old sealant

After removing the mounting bolts and nuts, use a suitable tool to remove the sealant (Fig. 2.87).

ATTENTION
Do not damage the surface of the part.

Remove sealant as carefully as possible to the surfaces of the grooves and holes in the mounting screws with a suitable tool, such as a scraper. If necessary, slightly heat the surface and remove particles of dried sealant with a piece of cloth soaked with gasoline.

When you have finished, place new sealant (Fig. 2.88).
Try to use a proprietary sealant or equivalent.
After the installation of a new sealant, wait 5 minutes and set the associated components. Remove excess sealant with a piece of matter.
Tighten mounting bolts.
