Replacing brake fluid
Required special tool: - Spanner for leveling valves. Necessary spare parts:
- Brake fluid SAE specification J 1703, DOT 3.
Brake fluid through the pores in the hose and through the vent expansion tank absorbs moisture from the air. Because of this, during the operation decreases the boiling point of brake fluid. If a strong impact on the brakes it can lead to the formation of vapor lock in the brake lines, because of which the braking efficiency is greatly reduced. Brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years, as far as possible in the spring. With frequent trips to the mountains of the brake fluid should be changed more frequently. Observe the rules for handling brake fluid, see chap. Brakes. | - Extract with suction brake fluid from the expansion tank to 10 mm.
 | Do not empty the expansion tank completely, so that the air did not get into the brake system. |
- Fill the expansion tank with new brake fluid up to the "Max."
 | Valves on the pumping wheel cylinders and calipers open careful not to twist them. It is recommended to cover the gates 2 hours before pumping rust. When firmly seated valves produce pumping workshop. |
| - Attach a clean hose to the valve of pumping on the right rear caliper, to substitute a suitable vessel.
|
- Ask an assistant several times to pump the brake pedal until the pressure is created to keep the brake pedal depressed, open the valve pumping. Hold your foot on the pedal, close the valve. Remove the foot off the pedal. Repeat this procedure on each valve to meas long as it protrudes only new brake fluid.
- Close the valve pumping, fill expansion tank with new brake fluid.
- In the same way the old pump out the brake fluid remaining calipers or cylinders in the sequence - rear right, rear left, front right, front left.
 | Leaking brake fluid should be transparent and have no bubbles. |
- Old brake fluid should be put into a special item.
