Check the thickness of the brake pads
Disc brakes | - Mark the position of the disc relative to the hub wheel to balance the wheel can be installed in its place. Loosen the wheel bolts.
- Raise the vehicle and remove the wheels.
| - Visually check the brake pad thickness - without base metal plate - front brake piston through the housing. If in doubt, remove the brake pads and caliper to measure the thickness.
|
- Border calliper disc brakes achieved when the pad has a thickness of 1 mm (9/89 to MY.) Or 2 mm (10/89 vol.). The value applies only to the strip without reason.
- If the wear limit is reached, the brake pads replaced. Be sure to replace all the pads on the same axle.
 | By unwritten rule 1 mm brake pad corresponds to a distance of 1,000 km. This rule applies to severe operating conditions. Under normal conditions the pads are much longer. When the thickness of brake linings of disk brakes 5.0 mm (excluding a rear plate), its life is still at least 4000 km. |
- Set wheel, taking into account the mark on the hub to lower the car and tighten the wheel nuts crosswise with torque of 100 Nm.

Drum brakes Visual check brake lines | - Raise the vehicle.
- Clean the brake pipes cold cleaner.
 | To prevent corrosion, brake pipes covered with a polymer layer. Damage of this layer may lead to corrosion of pipelines. Therefore, the brake pipes must not be cleaned with a wire brush, sandpaper or a screwdriver. |
- The piping from the master to the wheel brake cylinders by the lamp. The main brake cylinder is located in the engine compartment under the expansion tank with brake fluid.
- Brake pipelines should neither be bent or flattened. Also, they should not be rusty or worn places. Otherwise, the pipeline should be replaced before the next junction.
- Brake hoses connect the brake lines to the wheel cylinders on the movable parts of the vehicle. They are made of high-strength material, however, may eventually crack grind or cut yourself on sharp objects. In this case they must be replaced.
| - Bend the brake hoses from side to side and check for damage. Hoses should not be twisted, pay attention to the colored lines, if any.
|
- Turn the steering wheel from side to side. Brake hoses must not touch the parts with the vehicle in any position.
- Junctions brake lines and hoses must not be wet due to the protruding brake fluid.
 | If the expansion tank pads and moist because the brake fluid is not necessarily an indication of a faulty brake master cylinder. Most often, the brake fluid protrudes through the hole or lining of a cover of the compensation tank. |
- Lower the vehicle.
