Mixing oils

This and similar questions are of interest to many motorists. Unfortunately, the oil can not be mixed, even if it is oil companies' world-famous ?(Shell, Mobil, British Petroleum). Each firm produces commodity oils, adding to the whole range of oil-based additive, the chemical composition of which is kept secret. Therefore, by mixing the high quality oils same purpose, made in accordance with the existing classifications of motor oils, but technology different companies can give an oil of poor quality due to the incompatibility of additives. Oils of different firms are interchangeable on the use of such oils often indicate engine builders. But this does not mean that they can be mixed. Systems and API classification ACEA assume necessarily the same test methods (laboratory, bench - motor, etc.) of oils of different firms. If you wish (or need) automotive company may impose additional tests (or more stringent conditions) oils.
The same applies to the mixing of mineral or synthetic oils (sometimes even one company). Synthetic oils, such as hydrocarbon of one firm can be mixed. In this case, the manufacturer of oil and make appropriate recommendations to be responsible. Unfortunately, there are cases where, when mixed oils worsening their quality. This may result in "begin to knock" engine as the mixture of incompatible oils into a "jelly".
In no event should not be confused imported and domestic oil, especially with the addition of domestic additives.
