Overview

The exhaust system is used to output the exhaust gas to the atmosphere to prevent their falling into the vehicle even in a minimal quantity and reduce engine noise. To exhaust system worked properly, it must be in good condition. Status exhaust system also affects the engine power and fuel consumption.

The exhaust system of cars with four-cylinder diesel engines

The exhaust system of cars with four-cylinder diesel engines 1 - suspension; 2 - rear silencer; 3 - the central muffler; 4 - Suspension; 5 - bolt 25 Nm; 6 - the intermediate tube; 7 - nut 25 Nm; 8 - a lining; 9 - bolt 25 Nm; 10 - the catalytic converter; 11 - nut 25 Nm; 12 - the turbocharger; 13 - a lining; 14 - a collar

The exhaust system consists of exhaust manifold, turbocharger, exhaust pipe receiver, center and rear mufflers, catalytic converter (Fig. 5.27, 5.28, 5.29).

Exhaust front-wheel drive with six-cylinder diesel engines with catalyst

Exhaust-wheel drive vehicles with six-cylinder diesel engines 1 - a nut, 40 Nm; 2 - of the catalyst; 3 - a bolt with a flat head; 4 - a collar; 5 - bolt 25 Nm; 6 - Suspension; 7 - Front silencer; 8 - a collar; 9 - space cutting pipes; 10 - Right rear silencer; 11 - Suspension; 12 - an arm; 13 - left rear silencer

The elements of the exhaust system are connected by threaded joints or collars.
On vehicles with diesel engines to reduce emissions is used the unregulated oxidising catalytic converter.
Reduction of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas of the diesel engine is achieved through the installation of a car exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The EGR valve is installed in the recirculation of the exhaust system and the knee is controlled by a vacuum controller. After the EGR valve on the heated portion of the engine exhaust gas is directed into the combustion chambers of the engine, thereby reducing the temperature and reduces the content of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gases.
