Removal, dismantling, check and installation of the rear shock absorber

Withdrawal
Remove the rear wheels.
Remove the protective cover located in the trunk.
Disconnect the brake hose and wire wheel speed sensor on the rear strut.
Remove the stabilizer.

Remove the two screws on the rear strut-to-knuckle rear wheel (Fig. 4.43).

ATTENTION
Be careful not to drop the rear rack.

Remove the rear strut assembly from the vehicle.

With a special tool (J38402, A-20 and A-50) compress a spring strut so that the impact on the cup spring was minimal (Fig. 4.44).

NOTE
Do not use air tools (impact wrench).

Remove the self-locking nut on the top end of the damper rod.
Remove the damping support of a rack, the top cup springs, a spring and a protective cover from a rack assembly.

Check
Check damping support strut for wear or damage.
Check the rubber parts for damage or deterioration of the technical condition.
Check the spring and the strut assembly for wear or deformation (subsidence and reduced stiffness).

Check the shock resistance of the absence of abnormal movement of the rod and the background noise (Fig. 4.45).

Install the lower spacer of the spring so that the protrusions on it are aligned with the holes in the bottom of the cup springs (Fig. 4.46).
Install a protective cover on the shock absorber.

With a special tool (J38402, A-42) compress the spring (Fig. 4.47).
Pull out the shock-absorber rod until it stops, set the upper spring cup and dempfiruyuuschuyu support strut assembly.

NOTE
Align the flat portion of the D-shaped opening of the upper cups with spring lyskoi bezrezbovoy of the damper rod (Fig. 4.48).

Align the upper and lower coils of the spring with the corresponding recesses on the upper and lower spring cup rack, then temporarily tighten the self-locking nut (Fig. 4.49).

ATTENTION
Replace the new self-locking nut after removal.

When installing position dempfiruyuuschuyu support pillar so that it is aligned with the bolt of the upper lip cup springs, as shown in Figure 4.50.
Remove the special tool (J38402, A-20 and A-50).
Tighten the self-locking nut to the specified torque 40-55 Nm.
