Overview

The brake system of the car allows you to adjust the speed of the car and stop it with the necessary efficiency, as well as to keep the car still relatively expensive. The kinetic energy is converted by friction into heat energy. The presence of friction also means wear, so you need to constantly check brake wear.
The brake system consists of a master cylinder, brake booster and working brakes on the front and rear wheels.
Brake fluid reservoir is located in the engine compartment above the main brake cylinder. It supplies the braking system and clutch brake fluid. Vacuum brake booster reduces the force on the brake pedal, thereby facilitating control of the vehicle.
When you press the brake pedal connected to the pedal rod presses on the two next to each other of the piston in the master cylinder.
Pistons compress enclosed in the master cylinder brake fluid, thus created in the brake system hydraulic pressure is transmitted through pipes and hoses to brake mechanisms of wheels. In the caliper pistons are pressed against the brake pads to the brake discs and drums.
By car braking system with diagonal division of contours, which increases safety.
When one of the circuits, a second, it allows with sufficient effectiveness to stop the car. The front wheel brake inoperative maintains the drivability and the rear wheel brake inoperative keeps the rear of the vehicle in a rut. Failure of one brake circuit is determined by the significant increase in the stroke of the brake pedal, and the car is necessary to increase braking force on the brake pedal.
Disc brakes are self-adjusting. The support cylinder is installed a piston which is sealed by a rubber ring in a cylinder shape. Ring is disposed in the groove of the cylinder and tightly encloses the piston. At movement of the piston carries a ring, twisting it in the groove of the cylinder. Due to the elasticity of the sealing ring the piston then returns to its original position, thereby maintaining a constant clearance between the brake pads and the brake disc.
Parking brake system makes it possible to keep the car still relatively expensive. Basically it is used to hold the standing car, but can also be used in case of failure of the service braking system. The parking brake operates through the rope traction on the rear wheel brakes.
For normal work of such an important system as the braking system, it is necessary to conduct regular checks not only the prescribed maintenance program. Before the trip, on vacation or on the old car is recommended to thoroughly check the brake system.
On the other hand, repair work on the brake system requires high sense of responsibility and a certain knowledge and experience.

A WARNING
Abrasion of brake pads generate dust, which contains the unhealthy asbestos, so when cleaning the brake pads do not use compressed air and do not inhale the dust.
When driving on a wet road is recommended from time to time to press the brake pedal to the brake discs to remove moisture and dirt. Due to the centrifugal force water is discharged from the motion of the brake discs, but they remain a thin film of grease, silicones, rubber residues, grease and dirt, which reduces braking efficiency. When you stop the car after driving in the rain it is recommended to dry the brakes by pressing the brake pedal.
After installing new brake pads must be run-in. The first 200 kilometers are not recommended without the need to make frequent intensive braking.
Corroded brake discs cause vibration when braking effect which disappears during prolonged braking. In this case, they must be replaced.
The brake fluid used in the hydraulic system of brakes, is poisonous, so if it gets on your skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. If the liquid gets into your eyes or inside the body, you must seek medical advice immediately.
In addition, the brake liquid dissolves a paint and plastic, so when it gets to the paint of the car wash it with plenty of water. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, ie it absorbs moisture from the air, therefore a liquid, stored long time in open ware, it is not recommended.
Brake fluid must not come in contact with mineral oils. Even a small amount of mineral oil incapacitates the brake fluid and brake system.
