Replacing the front hub bearing



The hub is installed double row ball bearing, which during operation requires no adjustment and lubrication. When pressing out the bearing hub is destroyed, so is extruded from the hub knuckle only to replace the bearing.

HELPFUL ADVICE
Replacing the front hub bearing
For pressing the bearing hub using a mandrel of the appropriate size of the universal set for the replacement of the bearings. In the absence of mandrels can use the old bearing rings.

You will need: a stripper bearing snap ring pliers, barbs, hammer.
1. Loosen the front wheel nuts (refer to. "Removing and installing front wheel drive").
2. Loosen the wheel nuts, lift the front of the car and establish it on support. Remove the wheel.

3. Disconnect the lever from the steering knuckle outer tie rod end (see. "Replacing the outer tie rod").
4. Remove the caliper front brake ...

5. ... and tie wire rack to support the front suspension to keep it from falling (see. "Replacing the brake disc").
6. Remove the brake disk (see. "Replacing the brake disc").

7. Remove the knuckle from the strut (see. "Removing and installing strut front suspension"), from the lower arm ball joint (see. "Replacement of ball bearings") ...
8. ... and unscrewing the hub nut, remove the knuckle assembly to the hub.

NOTE
In order not to damage the internal hinge of a drive wheel, lock the drive, for example, securing it with wire to the front suspension crossmember.

9. Hold the knuckle in a vice as shown in the photo, and beat out the hub of the hammer fist, using a mandrel of suitable diameter.
10. Remove the hub. Likely to remain on the hub outer half of the inner ring of the bearing.

A WARNING
After removing the hub bearing is not suitable for re-use, so it must be replaced.

11. Universal puller ...
12. ... remove from the hub outer half of the inner ring of the bearing.

13. Remove bearing retaining ring snap ring pliers.
14. Install the bearing puller, press out and remove the bearing from the knuckle.
15. In the absence of bearing puller can be embossed with a hammer, using a mandrel of suitable diameter, as the Press out the bearing can not be reused.
16. Clean the parts and lubricate the inner surface of the socket pin and the outer surface of the hub with a thin layer of grease Lithol-24 or equivalent.
17. Press in the new bearing into the steering knuckle until it stops.

A WARNING
When pressing the bearing into the housing knuckle force should be applied to the outer ring of the bearing, otherwise, the bearing will be damaged.

18. Install the snap ring.
19. Press in the bearing hub puller to stop setting for the outer ring of the bearing support.

A WARNING
When pressing in the hub does not fix the support of bearing inner ring, the bearing can be damaged.

20. In the absence of a stripper press-fit into the bearing hub until it stops neat hammer blows through the mandrel, resting the bearing inner ring stand.
21. Install the vehicle knuckle assembly and all the removed parts in reverse order of removal.
