Replacing the steering shaft



Steering column - one of the most important elements of road safety, so replace installed in the steering column of a steering shaft when the following defects:
Replacing the steering shaft
- Deformation or damage to the intermediate shaft, and also damage to its clamped joints to the shaft and a steering gear shaft of the steering mechanism;
- Deformation or damage to the steering shaft, damage to the splines shaft-hub connection of the steering wheel and the intermediate shaft;
- Damage to the mechanism of adjustment of the steering column.
You will need: the key "12" face head "12", an extension cord, knob, drill 8 mm diameter electric drill.
1. Disconnect a wire from the plug ?�-?� the storage battery.
2. Remove the steering wheel (see. "Removing and installing the steering wheel").
3. Remove the steering column covers (see. "Removal and installation of the column cover").
4. Remove the shift paddles (see. "Replacement of the steering column switch").

5. Cut the plastic clip on the harness to the bracket of the steering column.
6. Disconnect the wiring harness connector switch (lock) of ignition.

7. Disconnect the harness connector of the fiber switch (lock) of ignition and the immobilizer antenna unit.
8. Remove the two screws that secure the position sensor in the key switch (lock) of ignition ...

9. ... and remove the gauge.
10. Remove the lower instrument panel trim (see. "Removal and installation of the instrument panel").

11. Move the steering column to the upper position and secure it by aligning the holes and installing the technology in them mandrel diameter of 4 mm.
12. Remove the two screws on the top bracket of the steering column to the body panels.

13. Remove the two nuts securing the bottom bracket of the steering column to the body panels ...
14. ... remove the shims from the studs ...

15. ... and lower the steering column to the floor panel.

NOTE
When installing the steering column do not forget to install the shims on the studs of the lower steering column mounting.

16. Remove the tie-clip bolt steering shaft slightly unclench clamp screwdriver ...
17. ... and disconnect the steering shaft.

18. Mark the position of the clamp with respect to the universal joint shaft steering ...
19. ... remove the bolt clamp ring ...

20. ... and remove the universal joint from the steering shaft splines.
21. Replace the universal joint shaft of the steering if the bearings have an axial movement of the cross or radial play.

22. Mark the position of the yoke of the universal joint steering intermediate shaft relative to the shaft-pinion steering mechanism ...
23. ... remove the bolt clamp ring ...

24. ... and remove the intermediate shaft, disconnecting it from the shaft-pinion steering.

NOTE
When replacing the upper steering shaft to remove the shaft locking device. For this...

... drill two mounting bolts of the bracket of the protective device.
When you install a protective device to improve its privacy screw bolts with special cutting head until the cutting heads.

25. Install the steering shaft and the steering column in the reverse order of removal, by aligning the marks made previously.
