Assembling the balancing unit (L3 c variable valve timing mechanism)

Make sure that the balancing gear unit is not damaged, and ensure smooth rotation of the shaft.

ATTENTION
Balancing the unit can not be dismantled, as has a high precision manufacturing.

Turn the crankshaft clockwise and set the piston of the first cylinder in the TDC.
Install the shim to the seat surface of the balancing unit.

Install the balancer unit to the cylinder block after setting the mark of the balancing unit on top of the center (Fig. 2.177).

Rotation balansirovchnogo shaft with a screwdriver
Fig. 2.178. Rotation balansirovchnogo shaft with a screwdriver

Insert a screwdriver into the crankshaft in the first counter, the rotation and the application of the axial force to the crankshaft Perform a screwdriver acting as a lever it, as shown in Figure 2.178.

Measuring clearance gearing shaft driven gear
Fig. 2.179. Measuring clearance gearing shaft driven gear

Install special tool as shown in Figure 2.179, then measure the gap in the teeth, using a dial gauge.
If the clearance exceeds the specified value, measure it again and, using shims selection table, select the appropriate gasket according to the following procedure.

ATTENTION
When measuring the gap, turn the crankshaft one full turn and check that the clearance rate of the following six positions: 10 ?, 30 ?, 100 ?, 190 ?, 210 ?, 280 ? after TDC.

The gap in the gearing: 0,005-0,101 mm.
Using the basic shim (number 50), set the balancer unit to the cylinder block, and then measure the clearance.
Select shim in accordance with the result of measurement.
Install selected shim on the balancing unit, then install the balancer unit to the cylinder block.
