Windscreen wipers

Windscreen wiper can operate only when the ignition switch is in the ?ON? (ignition on).

ATTENTION
Since the wiper blade may freeze to the windshield, provides for protection of the motor drive of the wiper failure, overheating and fire with the help of circuit breakers. The device automatically turns off the windscreen wiper (about 5 minutes). If this happens, move the wiper stalk to the "off" and stop at the roadside or on the edge of the carriageway, to remove the windshield snow and ice and free the wiper blades. After 5 minperevedite wiper lever into position. If the wiper is not resumed work, with caution, to immediately take the side of the road or to the edge of the roadway and stop. Wait for the weather to improve before continuing the movement with an inoperative windshield wiper.

Operating mode switch the windshield wiper (versions A and B)
Fig. 1.71. Operating mode switch the windshield wiper (versions A and B)

Option A (with switch position ?INT?).
Turn cleaner, move the lever to one of the bottom positions:
- Inclusion of a cleaner for one operating cycle (non-latching position);
INT - intermittent operation;
1 - continuous mode at low speed;
2 - continuous mode at high speed.
Pull the lever up to the wiper blades made one working cycle.

Option B (with switch position ?AUTO?).
Turn cleaner, move the lever to one of the bottom positions:
- Inclusion of a cleaner for one operating cycle (non-latching position);
AUTO - automatic control of the cleaner;
1 - continuous mode at low speed;
2 - continuous mode at high speed.
Pull the lever up to the wiper blades made one working cycle.

Automatic control of cleaner.
If you set the wiper lever into position ?AUTO?, the cleaner is switched on and off automatically by the signals of the rain sensor. The frequency of brush strokes depends on the amount of rainfall on the windshield (cleaner can operate in discontinuous mode and constant at low or high speed).

Control mode sensitivity of the rain sensor
Fig. 1.72. Control mode sensitivity of the rain sensor 1 - control ring; 2 - rain sensor

Controls exterior lighting and alarms, cleaners and washers of glasses and headlights, electric rear window defogger. The sensitivity of the rain sensor can be changed by rotating the control ring on the control lever cleaner (Fig. 1.72). From middle position (corresponding to a normal sensor sensitivity), turn to the mark (+) to increase the sensitivity and to the mark (-) to decrease the sensitivity of the sensor.
The automatic wiper control may not work if the temperature of the rain sensor is about -10 ? C or lower, or about +85 ? C and above. If the windshield is covered with water-repellent composition, rain sensor may not correctly estimate the amount of rainfall on the glass. This can lead to malfunction of the wiper in the automatic mode.
If dirt or other foreign substances (such as ice or road salt particles) have stuck to the windshield of the rain sensor, or windscreen covered with frost, wiper can automatically turn on. However, if the brush cleaner can not remove ice from the glass, dirt or other foreign matter, automatic wiper control switch off. In such cases, you must enable continuous operation wiper by moving the control lever in the first or second fixed position, or remove the ice, dirt and other debris by hand before returning the wiper to automatic operation.
