It opens and closes the shutter. Normally, under the influence of the spring rod opens the damper. When the vacuum of the intake manifold is supplied to the compartment of the diaphragm, the rod retracts, closing the damper. The actuator consists of a valve stem, and a spring chamber diaphragm (Fig. 2.58).
