Checking the oil level in the gearbox and oil change



Change the oil carried out in accordance with the manufacturer. Since the oil change intervals can be changed, it should specify them in the service. In the service book of the car an oil change the dates in accordance with the year of manufacture of the vehicle.

To check the oil level unscrew the cap 1 (Fig. 196) with the hexagon socket. Index finger to check the oil level - it should be up to the lower edge of the filling opening. If necessary, pour oil with a hand pump. Always use oil recommended by Mercedes-Benz.
Before replacing the gear oil is necessary to drive a few kilometers to warm up the oil. Place a suitable container (about 2.5 l) under the KP (the car set on the stand) and unscrew the plug 2 with an Allen key (see. Fig. 196). To accelerate the draining should unscrew filler plug. Allow oil to drain completely. It is better to wait for some time.
Screw in the drain plug and tighten to 50 Nm. The new oil to fill using a hand pump. If there is, you can use a syringe for filling the oil, clean it thoroughly beforehand. To fill in the KP needs about 1.8 liters. If the amount of oil filling is difficult to estimate, fill to the bottom edge of the filling opening. Then wrap plug and tighten to 50 Nm.
