Accumulator battery

Fitted to the vehicle battery voltage of 12 V has six cells (cans), which consist of plates positive and negative poles, immersed in sulfuric acid solution (electrolyte). Function battery - the supply of electricity to start the engine, the car's lighting, as well as other consumers. Installed a Mercedes has a certain capacity of the battery. When installing a new battery, the battery capacity must comply with the set value. The capacitance value should be known to you.
The main battery is designated as maintenance-free, ie, under normal operating conditions it electrolyte fill is not required. However, it often happens, that under certain circumstances the level of electrolyte in the battery is reduced.
Here are some maintenance operations battery, which under regular performance will help to ensure long life and high power:
- Always keep the battery and surrounding area clean. The upper surface of the battery must always be dry, or between cells may occur leakage current and the battery will be discharged;
- The level of the electrolyte in the battery must always reach the lower mark on the outside of the battery case. To refill use distilled water;
- In cold weather, do not leave the battery in a discharged state, as the electrolyte it can freeze.
