Fuel pump and fuel level sensor

Removing the booster pump and the fuel level sensor on cars with four-cylinder engines
Before disconnecting the battery, check whether you have the code switch on the radio.
Switch off the ignition and disconnect a wire of "weight" from the storage battery.
The fuel tank must not be filled to more than 3/4 of the volume. If necessary, drain off excess fuel.

A WARNING
In some cases, the temperature of the fuel hose and can reach 100 ? C, so before disconnecting hoses, let them cool down.

Remove the cover Primer Pump and fuel level sensor located under the luggage compartment carpet.

Disconnecting the electrical connector arrangement and hoses (1) and return (2) of fuel at the fuel pump
Fig. 5.6. Disconnecting the electrical connector arrangement and hoses (1) and return (2) of fuel at the fuel pump

Disconnect the 4-pin electrical connector (Fig. 5.6).
Sign the fuel supply hose 1 (see. Fig. 5.6), fuel return pipe 2 and disconnect them from the cover.

3217 Using the special tool, unscrew the union nut 6 (see. Fig. 5.5) of the fuel pump and fuel level sensor by turning it clockwise and remove the cover and seal.

Setting
Installation spend to sequences, return to removal, taking into account the following.

The combination of the label (1) on the cover with a label (2) on the fuel tank during the installation of the fuel pump and fuel level sensor
Fig. 5.7. The combination of the label (1) on the cover with a label (2) on the fuel tank during the installation of the fuel pump and fuel level sensor

When replacing the cover, replace the seal, thus the label 1 (Fig. 5.7) on the cover should be aligned with the mark 2 on the fuel tank.
3242 special tool, tighten the coupling nut on the fuel level sensor and the fuel pump to 80 N ? m.
Connect to cover a 4-pin electrical connector (see. Fig. 5.6).
In accordance with the previously applied markings connect the fuel hose 1 and fuel return pipe 2.
Connect a wire of "weight" to the battery.
Turn on the radio and enter the code.
Lift up the power window glass until it stops. Then click on all window switches again for at least 1, in the closed position of the control unit to activate windows.
Set the clock.
After separation of the various electrical connections in the memory control unit writes error information to be erased after installation.
Start the engine and check the tightness of supply.

Removing the booster pump and the fuel level sensor for vehicles with six-cylinder engines

NOTE
On vehicles with additional heater pay attention to the direction of fitting the supply tube heater.

Before disconnecting the battery, check whether you have the code switch on the radio.
Switch off the ignition and disconnect a wire of "weight" from the storage battery.
The fuel tank must not be filled to more than 3/4 of the volume. If necessary, drain off excess fuel.
Remove the cover Primer Pump and fuel level sensor located under the luggage compartment carpet.
Remove the cover from the electrical connectors.
Label hoses and fuel return and disconnect them from the cover.

3217 Using the special tool, unscrew the union nut 9 (fig. 5.8) of the fuel pump and fuel level sensor by turning it clockwise and remove the cover and seal.
On the underside of the lid, disconnect the electric socket of the gauge of level of fuel.
Pulling up, disconnect from the upper part of the fuel supply unit 2 (see. Fig. 5.8) elbow hose of return of fuel.

Location and direction of the lock removing the fuel level sensor from the fuel supply unit
Fig. 5.9. Location and direction of the lock removing the fuel level sensor from the fuel supply unit

Click the lock and pull upward, remove the fuel level sensor from the fuel supply unit (see. Fig. 5.9).
Separate fuel supply hose connecting a fuel pump and fuel supply unit.

Location recesses (1) on the inner casing section and the pointers (2 and 3) on the outer casing section
Fig. 5.10. Location recesses (1) on the inner casing section and the pointers (2 and 3) on the outer casing section

Through the opening in the fuel tank install special tool 3307 onto the inner section of the casing of the fuel pump and turn the pump together with the inner section of the counter-clockwise until it stops (about 15 ?), wherein one recess (Fig. 5.10) should be combined with the pointer 2. Remove the fuel pump housing interior section.

Setting
Installation spend to sequences, return to removal, taking into account the following.
Install the inner section to the outer casing, and the seizure of 1 (see. Fig. 5.10) should be combined with the index 2, and move the inner section of the casing down.
Install the special tool 3307 onto the inner section of the casing of the fuel pump and turn the pump together with the inner section in a clockwise direction until it stops (about 15 ?), wherein one recess (see. Fig. 5.10) should be combined with the index 3.
Connect the fuel hose between the fuel pump and the fuel supply unit.
Install the fuel level sensor and fix it.
Connect the upper part of the fuel supply unit elbow hose of return of fuel.
Wrap electrical fuel gauge wire one turn counterclockwise around the fuel hose and to connect the wire cover.

Location hoses (3) and return (2) on the fuel priming pump, the electrical connector (1) and the registration marks
Fig. 5.4. Location hoses (3) and return (2) on the fuel priming pump, the electrical connector (1) and the registration marks

Install the fuel pump and fuel level sensor, with the TDI label on the cover should be aligned with the mark on the fuel tank (see. Fig. 5.4).
3217 special tool, tighten the coupling nut on the fuel level sensor to 80 N ? m.
Connect the electrical connectors and fuel hoses.
