Replacing the heat sink cooling system



Radiator be replaced when it detects a leak of the coolant. The workshop which has the special equipment, the radiator can be checked and repaired.
To remove the heat sink assembly is more convenient with electric.

A WARNING
Remove the radiator on a cold engine only.

You will need: the key "10", pliers with long thin jaws, flat-blade screwdriver.
1. Drain the coolant (see. "Replacing the coolant").
2. Disconnect the harness connector of the main fan by clicking on a spring clamp.
3. Similarly disconnect the connector harness additional fan.
4. Loosen the clamp of steam-hose to the expansion tank, squeezing it with pliers bent tabs, slide the clamp on a hose ...
5. ... and remove the hose from the radiator pipe.
6. Loosen the hose clamp securing the supply ...
7. ... and disconnect the hose from the radiator pipe.
8. Similarly disconnect the discharge hose from the water distribution pipe.

NOTE
Replacing the heat sink cooling system is shown by the example of the car Chevrolet Lanos.

9. Remove the bolt of the upper radiator support bracket to the upper cross frame radiator ...
10. ... and remove the bracket assembly with pillow top support.
11. Similarly remove the second upper radiator support.
12. Remove the heat sink assembly with the fan assembly from the engine compartment.

NOTES
On the pins at the bottom of each tank Radiator put on rubber pads of the lower supports to be installed in the holes in the lower cross frame radiator. Remove them from the cross, if they remained in her hole, or remove them from the pins and check.
Highly crimped or hardened, replace the cushions.
Similarly, remove the cushion from the upper bracket supports, inspect and replace if necessary.


13. If you removed the radiator for repair or replacement, loosen the clamp discharge hose ...
14. ... and remove the hose.
15. Remove the three mounting bolts of the main fan to the radiator ...
16. ... and remove the fan assembly from the housing, moving the bottom right of the casing support bracket on the radiator.
17. Remove the two screws on the housing additional fan to the radiator ...
18. ... and remove the fan assembly from the housing, moving the lower bearing housing of the brackets on the radiator.
19. Clean the outside of the radiator with water jet and dry. If plastic radiator tank is cracked, replace the radiator.
20. Check the tightness of the radiator, which shut off the radiator pipes, move it to the air at a pressure of 0.1 MPa (1 kg / cm 2) and lower in the bowl of water for at least 30 seconds. Leaking radiator is determined by the emerging air bubbles. If the radiator does not fit fully into the container, check it consistently from all sides.
21. Install the radiator outlet hose and electric fans in reverse order of removal.
22. Install the heat sink on the car in reverse order of removal.

HELPFUL ADVICE
To further exclude the possibility of leakage of the coolant, before installing grease fittings radiator hose with a thin layer of silicone sealant.

23. Fill the coolant and remove air from the cooling system plugs (see. "Replacing the coolant").
