Front-wheel drive
Fig. 6.6. Front wheel drive: 1 - gryazeotrazhatelnoe ring; 2 - the case of the external hinge; 3 - the external hinge separator; 4 - holder of the external hinge; 5, 17 - balls; 6, 16 - a lock ring; 7, 9, 11, 13 - a collar; 8, 12 - covers; 10 - drive shaft; 14 - chehloderzhatel; 15 - a sealing ring; 18 - holder of the internal hinge; 19 - Separator internal hinge; 20 - the case of the internal hinge; 21 - a lock ring

Front wheel drive (Fig. 6.6) consists of two outer and inner 20 of constant velocity joints (CV joints) connected shaft 10. The outer hinge allows only angular displacements of the shafts. In addition to the internal hinge provide angular and axial shaft misalignment by rotating the front wheels and the suspension. Drive shafts of the left and right wheels are made of different lengths (longer than the right), which is due to the layout of the engine compartment of the car (the main transmission is shifted to the left relative to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle), so the drives are not interchangeable. Constant velocity joints of both drives are the same. To reduce vibration transmission to the shaft of the right drive attached dynamic damper.
For lubrication of hinges employs a special grease with molybdenum disulphide (domestic analogue - SHRUS-4). Sealing joints secured with rubber covers 8 and 12 (see. Fig. 6.6) attached to the yoke clamps 7, 9, 11, 13.
HELPFUL ADVICE
Hinges drives are very durable. However, due to damage to protective covers them pretty often change. Work to replace the time-consuming drives the front wheels, and the drives are not cheap. In order to seriously save your time and money, and avoid damage to the protective covers of hinges (for example, as a result of a collision with a wire sticking out of the ground) and immediately replace them at the slightest injury. If the hinge cover gets damaged by water or dust, it goes down a few hundred kilometers. Sealed joint wears out very slowly.
