Replacing the outer tie rod



You will need: the keys "12", "17", "19" key for wheel bolts, ball joint puller.

NOTES
The work is more convenient to perform the lift. You can do it on the vehicle and mounted on a support.
Replacing the tip is shown by the example of the left tie rod, replace the tip of the right similarly.
Thread the tip of the right of the left and right - left.

1. Lift and establish on support a forward part of the car from the tip to be replaced. Remove the wheel.

A WARNING
Slow down the car and set the parking brake at the rear wheel chocks ("boots").

HELPFUL ADVICE
If the fasteners are very dirty, clean them with a wire brush and treat grease easily penetrate, such as WD-40.

2. Remove the nut of a spherical finger tip to the pivot arm to the strut.

NOTE
Nuts of fastening of the spherical outer finger tips of steering drafts self-locking. Each removal, replace with new nuts.

3. Install the ball joint remover and press out the pin from the boss of the pivot arm.

HELPFUL ADVICE
In the absence of a stripper finger ball joint can be knocked by sharp blows of a hammer on the boss end of the pivot arm, striking along the axis of the lever.

4. Loosen the screw terminal connections tie rod.
5. Screw the tip from steering draft, counting the number of turns, so that when you install a new tip, if possible not changed toe. If necessary, hold the key thrust of the verge of turning the adjusting bolt (arrow).
6. Install the new tip in the reverse order of removal, screwing it onto the tie rod on so many turns, as it was estimated at removal. The tightening torque of the bolt clamp connections 22 Nm nut ball joint 60 Nm.
7. Check and, if necessary, adjust the angles of the wheels at the service station.
