Ignition coil (engine 2.7L V6)

Measuring the resistance of the primary winding of the ignition coil

Measuring the resistance of the primary winding of the ignition coil
Fig. 7.13. Measuring the resistance of the primary winding of the ignition coil

Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of the ignition coil (ignition coil for cylinder ?3 and ?6), terminals 2 and 4 ignition coils (ignition coil for cylinders ?1 and ?4) and terminals 2 and 3 of the ignition coil (coil for cylinders ?2 and ?5) (Fig. 7.13).
Nominal value: 0,74 ? 10% ohms.

Measuring the resistance of the secondary winding of the ignition coil

Measuring the resistance of the secondary winding of the ignition coil
Fig. 7.14. Measuring the resistance of the secondary winding of the ignition coil

Measure the secondary resistance between the high-voltage output coil ?3 i?6, ?1 and ?4, ?2 and ?5 (Fig. 7.14).
Nominal value: 13,3 ? 15% ohms.

ATTENTION
When measuring the resistance of the secondary winding of the ignition coil connector must be disconnected.

Checking and cleaning

Removing the spark plug wires
Fig. 7.15. Removing the spark plug wires

Disconnect the spark plug wires from high-voltage spark plug (Fig. 7.15).

NOTE
When you disconnect the spark plug wire high voltage insulation pull the cap, not the cord. Otherwise the wire may be damaged.

With the help of the tool head for removing spark Remove the spark plug from the cylinder head

ATTENTION
Be careful not to allow dirt into the engine cylinders through the spark plug hole.

Checked the components of the spark plug
Fig. 7.16. Checked the components of the spark plug

Check the spark plug for defects listed below (Fig. 7.16).
1. Damage to the insulator
2. Burnout electrodes
3. Nagar
4. Damage or crack sealing washer
5. Status of enamel insulator at the end of a candle (no traces on the surface of the breakdown).

The gap between the spark plug electrodes
Fig. 7.17. The gap between the spark plug electrodes

Check the gap between the spark plug electrodes with a wire feeler gauge and adjust it if necessary (Fig. 7.17).
Standard value: 1.0-1.1 mm
Install the spark plugs and tighten them to the specified torque. If candles tightened in excess of the nominal value, it is possible to damage the threads in the cylinder head.
Tightening torque: 20-30 Nm.

ATTENTION
When replacing the spark plugs new candle must have built-in resistance.
