Overview
The ignition timing is controlled by an electronic control system. Values optimum ignition timings for all engine operation modes stored in the memory of the electronic engine control module (ECM). Mode of operation of the engine (engine speed, load, the thermal state of the engine, etc.) is determined by signals of various sensors. Based on signals from the sensors and the data of the optimum spark advance angles electronic engine control module (ECM) sends a signal to interrupt the current in the primary winding of the ignition coil to the power transistor. In the secondary coil induced voltage is high enough for sparking between the spark plug electrodes and thus occurs optimal ignition timing control.
