Overview

Starter
Fig. 7.49. Starter

The system consists of engine start-up battery, the starter, the traction relay, ignition switch starter interlock (automatic transmission models only), interconnecting wiring and battery cables.
When you turn the ignition key in position ?START? (?Start?) through a retractor pulling the starter relay coil current flows. The anchor of the traction relay moves the lever (fork), which in turn brings the pinion gear (made with overrunning clutch) into engagement with the flywheel (or torque converter automatic transmission). At the same time the movement of the anchor of the traction relay contacts and closes the starter begins to scroll through the engine crankshaft.
To prevent damage to the starter caused by the high speed of the armature of a starter after the engine starts, the starter overrunning clutch takes the pinion gear out of engagement.

Check the clutch pedal

Sensor clutch switch

Make sure that the height of the clutch pedal on the floor, free travel and play in the connection pin clutch pedal are normal (Fig. 7.50).

Check the starter relay

Driving test the starter relay
Fig. 7.51. Driving test the starter relay

Remove the starter relay and check the continuity between the terminals in accordance with the table. If the state is different from the circuit, then replace the relay (Fig. 7.51).

Checking the switch of blocking of a starter

The circuit breaker test starter interlock
Fig. 7.52. The circuit breaker test starter interlock

Remove the switch of blocking of a starter and check the continuity between the terminals in accordance with the table. If the state is different from the circuit, then replace the switch (Fig. 7.52).
