Starter
Adjusting the axial clearance pinion Disconnect the field coil wire from terminal "M" pulling the relay.
| Fig. 7.54. Driving adjust the axial clearance of the pinion
|
Connect the wires from the terminals 12 V battery (via a switch) to the terminals ?S? (+) and ?M? (-) magnetic switch (Fig. 7.54). Set the switch to "ON." In this case, the starter pinion gear pops forward until it stops.
ATTENTION This test must be carried out quickly, no more than 10 seconds, to prevent the coil from burning starter. |
With the probe measure the axial clearance between the pinion gear and the limiting ring. If the axial clearance does not correspond to the nominal values range, adjust it by installing or removing shims between the traction relay and the starter front bracket (Fig. 7.55). Nominal backlash: 0,5-2,0 mm.
| Fig. 7.56. Installation of the traction relay
|
If the axial clearance is not correct, adjust it by installing or removing shims between the traction relay and the starter front bracket (Fig. 7.56).
Checking the pull-in winding traction relay Disconnect the field coil wire from terminal "M" pulling the relay.
| Fig. 7.57. Driving test pull-winding traction relay
|
Connect the wires from the terminals 12 V battery to the terminals ?S? (+) and ?M? (-) magnetic switch (Fig. 7.57).
ATTENTION This test must be carried out quickly, no more than 10 seconds, to prevent the coil from burning starter. |
If the pinion gear is put forward, which draws means winding traction relay is OK. If the pinion gear does not extend, replace magnetic switch.
Check keeping winding of the traction relay Disconnect the field coil wire from terminal "M" pulling the relay.
| Fig. 7.58. The scheme of check holding winding traction relay
|
Connect the wires from the terminals 12 V battery to a conclusion ?S? (+) and the starter (Fig. 7.58).
ATTENTION This test must be carried out quickly, no more than 10 seconds, to prevent the coil from burning starter. |
If the pinion gear, launched by hand until it stops, remains in the extended position, thus retaining the winding OK. If the gear is retracted, it means there is a breakage in the holding coil. In this case, replace magnetic switch.
Checking the return anchor of the traction relay Disconnect the field coil wire from terminal "M" pulling the relay.
| Fig. 7.59. The scheme of check return anchor of the traction relay
|
Connect the wires from the terminals 12 V battery to a conclusion "M" and the starter housing (Fig. 7.59).
ATTENTION This test must be carried out quickly, no more than 10 seconds, to prevent the coil from burning starter. |
Pull hand pinion gear and release. If the pinion gear is immediately returned to its original position, then the traction relay correctly. If not, replace magnetic switch.
Test idling
| Fig. 7.60. Driving assembly unloaded circuit to test the starter idle
|
Collect the unloaded test circuit, as shown in Figure 7.60. Rheostat to adjust the voltage of the battery so that the voltmeter shows a value of 11.5 V. Make sure that the maximum supply current standard value, and that the starter armature rotates freely, without jerks and jamming. Rated current: 60 A or less.
Check the power transistor
| Fig. 7.61. Measuring the heartbeat of the power transistor
|
Place the starter anchor in measuring prism. Measure the run-out of the power transistor (Fig. 7.61). Heartbeat starter armature. Standard value: 0.05 mm. Limit: 0.1 mm.
| Fig. 7.62. Measure the outside diameter of the power transistor
|
The diameter of the power transistor. Standard value: 29.4 mm. Limit: 28.4 mm.
| Fig. 7.63. Measuring the depth of undercut between the sections of the power transistor
|
Measure the depth of the undercut between the sections of the power transistor (Fig. 7.63). The depth of the undercut. Rated value: 0.5 mm. Limit: 0.2 mm. Check the brush holder
Check the closed circuit between the plate (plus) the brush holder and brush holder (Fig. 7.64). If there is continuity, replace the brush holder assembly.
Checking freewheel
Rotate the pinion gear holding body freewheel. The pinion should rotate smoothly, without jamming in one direction and not to rotate in the opposite direction (Fig. 7.65). Check the condition of the starter gear teeth. If there is wear or chipped teeth, replace overrunning clutch assembly. Check the condition of the flywheel (or the drive plate automatic transmission).
Bushings front and rear brackets Assess the bushes. In the presence of wear or scoring, replace the appropriate bracket assembly.
Set restrictive and retaining rings
Set the first stop ring, then the snap ring on the front end of the armature shaft of a starter. Slide the stop ring on the retaining ring until it stops (Fig. 7.66).
Cleaning parts starter Do not wash the starter armature and stator solvent: possible damage to the wire insulation windings. Clean only with a dry cloth. Do not wash the overrunning clutch immersion solvent into the sleeve laid grease on all lines of service, and the solvent can wash the grease. Purification freewheel spend brush dipped in solvent, immediately remove any excess solvent.
Check brushes
Worn to the wear limit line, or oily brushes should be replaced (Fig. 7.67). Remove the worn brush, being careful not to break the wire brush. Sanded end of the wire brush to ensure reliable soldering.
| Fig. 7.68. Checking the end of the solder wire brush
|
Set the brush in place, be sure to fix the brush spring
Removing the guard ring and the retaining ring
To remove the freewheel with the armature shaft starter is necessary to bring down the stop ring with the locking (Fig. 7.69).
After removing the locking ring stop ring can be removed from the armature shaft starter (Fig. 7.70).
