The main brake cylinder



Withdrawal
Disconnect the brake pipes from the master cylinder and close the opened holes suitable stoppers.
Remove the nuts securing the master brake cylinder, lift up and remove the brake master cylinder.

A WARNING
Do not spill the brake fluid on the painted surfaces of the car, otherwise, wash it off with water.

Dismantling
Remove the lid from the tank and drain the brake fluid into a suitable container.
Remove the tank from the main brake cylinder.

Pliers, remove the retaining ring from the body of the master cylinder (Fig. 6.29).
Only on vehicles with ABS Remove the piston stop.
Remove the primary piston assembly.
Push a screwdriver secondary piston down the entire length and remove the piston stop (only vehicles with ABS).
Remove the secondary piston assembly.

A WARNING
Do not disassemble the components of primary and secondary pistons.

Check
Check the inner surface of the body of the master cylinder for corrosion and galling.
Check the master cylinder for wear or damage. If necessary, clean or replace the cylinder.

WARNINGS
If damaged bore of the cylinder housing of the master cylinder, replace the brake master cylinder assembly.
To remove dirt, clean the body of the master cylinder with isopropyl alcohol.

Assembly
Apply brake fluid to the bushing and rubber parts of the brake master cylinder.
Carefully insert the two springs and pistons inside the body of the master cylinder.
Use a screwdriver to push the pistons inside and set the lock ring.
Use a screwdriver to push the piston to its full length and set it to stop.
Install the two rubber bushings.
Place the lid on the tank.

Setting
Measure and adjust the protrusion of the pusher to be (8.25 ?� 0.125) mm.
Install the brake master cylinder to the brake servo.
Connect the brake pipes to the master cylinder.
Fill the brake fluid in the reservoir.
Remove the master cylinder from the air, got there when installing brake tubes. Very depress the brake pedal, turn half turn the nut of a brake tube to the master cylinder when the pedal is depressed. Continuing to press the pedal box in the expel liquid together with air. After the pedal will reach extreme forward position and stop fluid leakage, tighten the nut of a brake tube. Repeat these steps to until the main brake cylinder ceases leaving air.
