Elements of fastening of the generator shown in Fig. 10.1.
Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and the generator connectors.
Loosen the alternator drive belt and remove it.
Remove the bolt and nut, remove the generator.
Remove the four through bolts.

Insert two screwdrivers between the front cover and the stator core and press the screwdriver downwards (Fig. 10.2).

WARNINGS
Do not insert a screwdriver too deep - so it is possible to damage the stator coil.
The back cover is hard to remove, for locking the outer ring of the rear bearing ring is used. To facilitate the removal of the rear cover, heat the bearing box section using a soldering iron power of 200 watts. Do not use hair dryer, because it can damage the diodes.

Pinch runner-up in the grip of the pulley.

A WARNING
Be careful not to damage the rotor vise.

Loosen the nut of the pulley and remove the spring washer, a pulley and the spacer.
Remove the front cover and two gaskets.
Remove the rotor from the grip.
Unscrew the brush holder, the rectifier and unscrew the nut from the withdrawal of "B".
Remove the back cover of the stator.
Remove the dust ring with the brush holder.
If you need to remove the stator Unsolder its three connecting wires to the main rectifier diodes.

WARNINGS
When soldering, heat the diodes for a long time.
Do not apply to the connecting wires diodes excessive force.

When disconnecting the rectifier from brush holder Unsolder two plates are soldered to the rectifier (Fig. 10.3).

Check

Use an ohmmeter to check the continuity between the slip ring rotor

Check rotor coil. Make sure that between the slip rings have conductivity (Fig. 10.4). If the resistance is too low, then the coil short circuiting. If the conductivity is not present or there is a short circuit, replace rotor.
Rotor resistance - 3.1 ohms.

Use an ohmmeter to check the continuity between the slip ring rotor and armature

Check the coil circuit of the rotor coil rotor anchor. Make sure that there is continuity between the slip ring and the armature of the rotor (Fig. 10.5). If the conductivity is, replace the rotor.
Make sure that the connecting wires between the stator coil has a conductivity. If the conductivity is not, replace the stator.

Check-circuiting the stator coils in the core. Make sure that between the coil and the core is no conduction, otherwise replace the stator (Fig. 10.6).
Ohmmeter check up conductivity between the positive terminal of the rectifier and the connecting terminal of the stator coil. The ohmmeter should show conductivity in one direction only. If the conductivity is, in both directions, the diode is broken.
In this case, replace the rectifier.
Check conductivity between the negative terminal of the rectifier and the connection terminal of the stator coil. The ohmmeter should show conductivity in one direction only. If the conductivity is, in both directions, the diode is broken. In this case, replace the rectifier.
Check the conductivity of the three diodes by connecting the ohmmeter leads to both ends of each diode. Conductivity should only be in one direction.
If there is a conductivity in two directions, so probit diode, rectifier and should be replaced.

Replacement brush

Measure the length of protrusion of the brush, as shown in Fig. 10.7. Replace the brush if the measured value is below the limit.
The maximum permissible length of brushes - 2 mm.
Unsolder braided wire brush and remove old brush.
Insert the new brush in the holder and solder it to the braided wire.

Assembly and installation
Assembly and installation are carried out in reverse order of removal and disassembly, with the following.

Installation wire (3) into the hole in the rear cover (1) to lock the brushes (2)

Before the rotor is attached to the rear cover to lock the insert wire brushes in a small hole in the rear cover (Fig. 10.8). After installing the rotor, remove the wire.
