Removing and installing drive shaft

Withdrawal
Raise the vehicle and remove the front wheel.
Drain the gear oil (hydraulic fluid) from the gearbox.

Drive shafts
Fig. 3.46. Drive shafts 1 - nut, 220-280 Nm; 2 - the ball joint of the lower arm; 3 - lower arm assembly; 4 - bolt 100-120 Nm; 5 - nut, 75-80 Nm; 6 - Bolt, 40-50 Nm; 7 - driveshaft cars with engine 2.7 liters; 8 - rotor sensor ABS; 9 - right drive shaft of cars with engines, in addition to 2.7 liters; 10 - a lock ring; 11 - the central bearing and shaft drive cars with engine 2.7 liters; 12 - left drive shaft

Remove the cotter pin and loosen the nut of the drive shaft to the hub of the front wheel (Fig. 3.46).

Location bolts of the lower arm ball joint to knuckle
Fig. 3.47. Location bolts of the lower arm ball joint to knuckle

Remove the two screws and remove the lower arm ball joint from the knuckle (Fig. 3.47).

Use a hammer to knock out the drive shaft from the front wheel hub
Fig. 3.48. Use a hammer to knock out the drive shaft from the front wheel hub

Plastic hammer beat out a power shaft from the hub of the front wheel (Fig. 3.48).
Tilt the front wheel hub and separate from the vehicle drive shaft from the hub.

Using the mounting of the blade to separate the drive shaft from the intermediate shaft
Fig. 3.49. Using the mounting of the blade to separate the drive shaft from the intermediate shaft: 1 - an arm of the central bearing; 2 - blade assembly

On cars with engines V6 2,7 liter blade mounting insert (mount) between the bracket of the central bearing and the housing inner constant velocity joint and pressing it, separate the drive shaft from the intermediate shaft (Fig. 3.49).

A WARNING
Do not pull the drive shaft, as this will be damaged joints DOJ or TJ sure to use a pry bar.

Using the mounting blades to extract the drive shaft of the gearbox
Fig. 3.50. Using the mounting blades to extract the drive shaft of the gearbox 1 - gland; 2 - the hinge case;
3 - blade assembly; 4 - the gearbox housing

For vehicles other than cars with engines V6 2,7 l Insert mount between the transmission case and the case of the internal hinge of equal angular speeds and clicking on the mount, remove the drive shaft of the gearbox (Fig. 3.50).

WARNINGS
Do not pull the drive shaft, as this will be damaged joints DOJ or TJ sure to use a pry bar.
Do not insert a pry too deeply - so it is possible to damage the oil seal.
When disconnecting the drive shafts do not lower the car on wheels, as it will be damaged bearing. If you want to set the car on wheels to move it, or for some other reason, use a special tool to support the bearing hub.

Release the tension mechanism and remove the accessory drive belt (engine V6 2,7 liter).
Remove the generator (engine V6 2,7 liter).
Remove the bracket bolts of the central bearing. Insert a pry bar between the center bearing bracket and the cylinder block, then remove the bracket from the engine block.
Remove the internal hinge intermediate the drive shaft of the transmission.
Special tools (09432- 11000), remove the ABS sensor rotor from the drive shaft.

Check
Check the drive shaft for damage and destruction.
Check the ball constant velocity joints for wear and damage.
Check the drive shaft splines for wear and damage.
Check the damper for wear and damage.

Setting
Lubricate the splines of the drive shaft and the contact surface of the differential housing.
Before installing the drive shaft, set the lock ring lock down.
After installation, make sure that the drive shaft can not be pulled out of the hand of the gearbox.

Position the washer (2) under the nut (1) fixing the drive shaft (3)
Fig. 3.51. Position the washer (2) under the nut (1) fixing the drive shaft (3)

Place the washer under the nut of the drive shaft with beveled side outside, as shown in Fig. 3.51.
Tighten the nut of the drive shaft torque 200-280 Nm Mount the lower arm ball joint to knuckle - torque 100-120 Nm.
