Checking the tire

Rear tires usually wear faster than the front, but also the latest wear because they are managed. Tyre condition is best to check on the car mounted on a support. Check condition of tires should be carried out as follows:
- Rotate to start each wheel. Carefully remove the screwdriver to tread stones and other objects. If the detected bus glass or nail, may at this point exits the air;
- Pay attention to possible damage to the tread - breaks, cuts, cracks. When the damaged rubber moisture can get inside the bus. Outside, it is impossible to determine whether the corrosion does not start metal cord. For greater security, Entrust check tire specialist. The same should be done when excessive wear;

Measuring tester bus depth of its tread
Fig. 342. Measuring tester bus depth of its tread

- The depth of the tread across the tire should be less than 1.6 mm. Some brands of tires in several places equipped with special wear indicator, the installation location is marked by letters ?twi? (tread wear indicator) on the sidewall. For safety reasons, replace the tire with a depth of 2 mm of wear. Drivability deteriorates with increasing tire wear, especially noticeable in the wet. To measure the depth of tread used special testers, which is applied to the tire as shown in Fig. 342. Vdvigaya measuring pin on the scale of the tester can determine the value (in mm);
- Check the uniformity of the tire wear;
- Carefully check the tire sidewall. "Hernia", and projections indicate a flat tire.
Types of tire wear
Tyre wear is shown as follows:
- Worn outer edge (the front wheels). Too fast cornering. Move the bus drives on the other side or relocate the wheel back;
- Outer edges are worn more than the middle of the tread. Tires for a long time operated with insufficient pressure;
- Transverse bands wear. Indicate incorrect installation angles of the wheels, particularly when the tire is worn on only one wheel;
- A strong mid-tread wear. Occurs when frequent driving at maximum speed. Under the influence of the lift tire bend and the middle wears stronger. This effect is particularly evident on the rear wheels;
- Uniform wear scar. May be defective shock absorber;
- Uneven wear (in several places). The imbalance in the wheel. Balance the wheel;
- Heavy wear in one place. It may occur when braking with locked wheels.
