General description of the various elements of the brake system



The main brake cylinder. Converts mechanical force on the brake pedal in the hydraulic pressure. Also it provides a rapid drop in pressure in the system when you release the pedal.
The vacuum amplifier. It is located in the engine compartment on the left of the main brake cylinder. It provides approximately 60% of the braking force. It acts through a separate vacuum pump. When you press the pedal elastic diaphragm amplifier reacts to the change in pressure from the outside air by the pressure drop as a result of who is behind it the vacuum created by a vacuum pump, to the additional force that is transmitted to the master cylinder.
Brake fluid. Brake fluid is a mixture of glycol poliglikolata and other components. It is yellow or clear, poisonous and aggressive to paintwork, neutral to rubber and metal brake parts. At -40 ?� C retained in the liquid state, boiling point about 290 ?� C.
Lack of brake fluid - high absorbability. Even at 2.5% concentration of water boiling temperature is lowered to 150 ?� C under a heavy load on the brakes this can be dangerous. Near the hot brake fluid in the steam bubbles may be formed, which reduce the pressure in the system. The brake pedal by pressing the "falls", in some cases, helping a few times to push the pedal, "pumping" hydraulic brakes to come vapor bubbles.
