Removal of the steering mechanism

When working with power should observe the following rules:
- During all work to comply with the maximum purity;
- Before loosening any connections should be carefully cleaned the surrounding surface;
- To put all the removed parts on a clean surface and, if necessary, to cover;
- During operation, do not use cloth nappies;
- New parts removed from the packaging directly before installation;
- Use only original spare parts;
- Drain not pour back into the system.
To remove the steering, perform the following steps:
- The car in front to establish on support, unscrew the wheel. Always make sure that the car will not be able to get off the supports. After removing the front wheel, you can put them behind and in front of the stop for one of the rear wheels. Otherwise put a Chock the rear wheels;

The compound steering rod lever knuckle

- Unscrew the nut 1 (Fig. 258) and remove with a special puller attachment hinge tie rod to the steering knuckle. The figure shows a suitable puller, which can be replaced if necessary versatility. Do the same on the other side. Hinge left a tip after loosening lock nuts 3 to turn away from traction 4. When loosening should count the number of turns (up to a half-turn). When you install the hinge to be screwed into the same number of turns - this will save the setting the toe angle of the wheels;

Labels indicating the central position of the steered wheels

- Set the wheels straight. Securely lock the steering wheel in this position. In any case, you should check that the marks on the steering gear and the steering gear housing the same (Fig. 259);
- Via syringe away liquid from the tank of the hydraulic booster;
- Disconnect both pipes from the steering mechanism: one of them - a hose (elastic) high pressure, the other - the opposite. Installed O-rings should be replaced. Leaked liquid drained into a container or a cloth to collect. When assembling high pressure hose wrap torque 45-50 Nm return hose - 30-32 Nm;
- Unscrew the bolt from the steering shaft head Torx and remove the hinge from a shaft;
- Unscrew the steering of the front axle. To do this, tilt forward and pull it to the right.
Installation must be carried out in reverse order with the following:
- Before installing the steering, turn the shaft all the way to one side, then turn all the way to the other side, considering the number of revolutions. Now again rotate the shaft in the other direction by exactly half the resulting speed. In the exact center position marks on the gear housing and steering match (see. Fig. 259);
- Steering enter from the left side and turn up;
- Check again to see if the steering mechanism in the middle position (the gear shaft could crank);
- Set the steering mechanism in the seat and tighten the bolts evenly crosswise torque of 55-60 Nm;
- The universal joint mounted on the gear shaft, that the hole in the joint coinciding with a circular recess in the shaft. Screw the retaining bolt and tighten to 35 Nm. For this again use a special head Torx, inserted in the torque wrench;
- Screw caps with hinges on the tie rods (former position) and secure them to the knuckle. Nuts wrap torque 120-130 Nm;
- Connect both lines to the steering mechanism and tighten the mounting pressure hose torque 45-50 Nm return hose - 30-32 Nm;
- Pour the liquid into the system and bleed (described below);
- To lower the car and tighten the wheel bolts torque 160-180 Nm;
- Then you should check that the steering wheel and stood up straight. If it is not, unscrew the universal joint back and move to the desired number of teeth in the right direction. Permutation one tooth at the 6 ? rotation of the steering wheel;
- Finally check the system for leaks and level of liquid in a tank of the hydraulic booster.
