Dismantling and assembling starter

Details starter
Fig. 8.5. Details starter: A - starter Hitachi S114-766A (in a car with automatic transmission); B - starter Mitsubishi M1T-72087A (in a car with automatic transmission); B - starter Mitsubishi M1T-77 281 (on vehicles with petrol engines); T - Hitachi starter S114-769A
(on vehicles with petrol engines); D - the starter motor Hitachi S114-630 (on vehicles with petrol engines); E - starter Mitsubishi MMT-37783 (in vehicles with petrol engines); F - starter Mitsubishi M2T-62071A (on vehicles with diesel engines); W - starter Hitachi SI3-305 / 331 (on vehicles with diesel engines); And - starter Mitsubishi M2T-61871A (on vehicles with diesel engines); 1 - a cover from outside a drive; 2 - a stator; 3 - gear; 4 - overrunning clutch with the gear drive; 5 - anchor; 6 - the brush holder; 7 - the drive lever; 8 - the traction relay; 9 - a cover from outside a collector; 10 - restrictive and thumbwheel; 11 - the bearing; 12 - a gear wheel drive; 13 - support

Disassembly and assembly of the starter is not difficult if you follow Fig. 8.5. When checking the technical condition of the starter control units and are subject to the following details: brush-collector unit, the starter motor, the traction relay, starter motor, gearbox (if available).
Please make inspection brush-collector unit. Measure the height of the brushes and the force pressing them to the collector of the springs. If the height of the brush is less than 7 mm or found its mechanical damage, replace the brush. Brushes should be free, without jamming, move the brush holders. The direction of action of brush springs must coincide with the axis of the brush holder. Check the spring force dynamometer. Between the brush and the collector insert a paper strip and pull the dynamometer spring along the axis of the brush holder. Display the dynamometer when the strip of paper, you can get a slight effort, should be within 13,2-25,0 N. When a weakened spring, replace it.
Collector surface must be clean, smooth and does not have a significant burning. If there is dirt on the collector and a slight burning, wipe it with a cloth soaked in gasoline. Strongly burnt collector strip the sandpaper. The abrasive particles after stripping remove by blowing compressed air manifold. If the scorching manner persists or there is heavy wear collector, then pierce it on the lathe.
The traction relay check for tripping on voltage of 7.8 V.
Drive starter must be free, without jamming the shaft and moved back to its original position spring return. At the complicated movement of the drive shaft of the armature clean from dirt and grease with engine oil. Axial play of the shaft of the armature must be within (0.3 ? 0.15) mm. The radial clearance of the shaft in the bearings should be almost invisible. With a significant radial play of the shaft sleeve to replace the worn cover of a starter. New hub before installation saturate in engine oil (SAE 30/40).
Inspect the armature and the stator for an open and traces of burning.
