Chain drive Camshaft VR6 engine

Elements of the chain drive camshafts VR6 engine
Fig. 2.54. Elements of the chain drive camshafts Engine VR6: 1 - an asterisk; 2 - lead distributor of ignition; 3 - bolt 10 Nm; 4 - axle, 25 Nm; 5 - shoe tensioner; 6 - double-row chain tensioner, 20 Nm; 7 - two-row chain; 8 - two-lane drive sprocket chain; 9 - driven sprocket-row chain; 10 - single-row chain tensioner; 11 - bolt 11 Nm; 12 - single-row chain sprocket (made integrally with the crankshaft); 13 - Single-row chain; 14 - Strap pacifier-row chain; 15 - finger 25 Nm; 16 - finger with a shoulder 25 Nm; 17 - bolt 20 Nm; 18 - two-row chain strap pacifier; 19 - a flange of the intermediate shaft; 20 - an intermediate shaft

Timing on the VR6 engine made by an asterisk (see. Fig. 2.54) on the intermediate shaft. At the same shaft sprocket drive is two-row chain driving the two camshafts. Chain tension timing is ensured by the tensioner 6. Single-row timing chain tensioner is provided with an intermediate sprocket 10 hydraulic type and does not require adjustment. The tensioner is provided with a clamp, which must be removed when replacing the chain. The trajectories of the circuits are also formed by means of brackets 14 and 18 of the dampers;
To disassemble the timing, proceed as follows:
- Remove all components and parts are located on the front of the engine from the drive;
- Before removing the chain tension, loosen the timing and if you do not plan to dismantling other basic mechanisms of the engine, set the piston of the first cylinder in the TDC to change the setting valve timing;
- If necessary, loosen the tension-row chains, release the lock of the hydraulic tensioner 10 (see. Fig. 2.54);
- Loosen the tension of the two-row chain, removing the tensioner 6 (see. Fig. 2.54);
- Paint mark the direction of the circuit assembly to simplify timing mechanism;
- Two-row chain is removed or after removal of one of the sprockets timing (the shafts are held spanner hexagon), or after the removal of the intermediate sprocket;
- Single-row chain can be removed after removing the intermediate sprocket.
Installing components the timing is as follows:
- If the cylinder head has not been removed, and the circuit are marked, all marks on the components of the timing remain in their original locations on the condition that none of the shaft was not rotated;
- If the cylinder head has been removed, it shall, before it is installed, you should definitely put the components of the timing. It is impossible to turn the crankshaft, if the circuit is not set, since otherwise the pistons may strike the valve;
- Crank the crankshaft until the moment when the piston of the first cylinder will be in the TDC. To this end, at the removed engine crankshaft crank by rotating flywheel or established engine and remove the cylinder head and crank transmission include the front wheel hub. You can also temporarily set the vibration damper and crankshaft bolt of the damper. In the case of a six-cylinder engine is required to four revolutions of the crankshaft, the piston was in TDC of the compression stroke;
- Set single-row chain, making sure that the label "B" (the polished tooth crankshaft sprocket) was installed horizontally;
- Establish an asterisk on 8 and 9 (see. Fig. 2.54), aligning the timing marks "B" (see. Fig. 2.56).

The upper part of the cylinder head
Fig. 2.56. The upper part of the cylinder head 1 - spark plug cable with connectors and a cable guiding device; 2 - a cover of the distributor of ignition; 3 - valve cover; 4 - sealing the housing; 5 - the top of the intake manifold; 6 - bolt 25 Nm; 7 - a casing of the cylinder head; 8 - support the collector; 9 - nut 1 Nm

For further desirable to have an assembly device for installing and temporarily fixing the camshaft. It is inserted into the shaft groove. The illustration shows how to be located after the instrument installation;
- Establish an asterisk on the camshafts and at the same time lay the double-row chain, considering you made the mark indicating the direction of the chain;
- Before installing bolts stars of one of the camshafts leash set 2 (see. Fig. 2.54) the drive sensor-distributor of ignition;
- Tighten the bolts of asterisks of shaft torque 100 H ? m by holding the hexagon wrench 24;
- After tightening, check again the combination of adjusting labels;
- Set the chain tensioner 10 by turning a screwdriver slot "A" to unlock it;
- Set the chain tensioner 6 (see. Fig. 2.54) and tighten a bolt of its fastening torque of 20 Nm. He pulls the single-row chain and additional actions for its tension is not required;
- Perform all other assembly operations in the reverse order to dismantling.
Basic information about the petrol engines are given in the Table. 2.7, 2.8.
