Assembly

Connecting rod and piston group assembly
Fig. 2.20. Connecting rod and piston group assembly: 1 - the piston rings; 2 - piston; 3 - finger; 4 - lock ring finger; 5 - rod; 6 - connecting rod bearings; 7 - the cylinder block; 8 - a cover of a rod; 9 - insert the dowel pin; 10 - piston cooling nozzles; 11 - screw oil jets; 12 - bolts of a cover of the bottom head of a rod; 13 - mark for the orientation of the connecting rod and bearing cap; A - marking rods and caps; B - position of the tides

When assembling the pistons with rods must ensure their correct orientation. For this purpose, the piston head there is an arrow that after the installation of the piston should be directed to the timing. In turn, on the connecting rod and bearing cap are recesses 13 (see. Fig. 2.20) near their mating surfaces - the indentations in the correct orientation, have to look in the same direction, which is directed arrow on the piston head (i.e. to the belt camshaft drive).
The assembly was performed as follows:
- Lubricate the piston pin and connecting rod sleeve top with clean engine oil. Insert the pin into the piston, connecting it to the little end. Establish new circlip both ends of the piston pin so that the open end rings have been rotated 180 ? relative to the recess in the piston rings intended for removal;
- Check the end gap rings. To do this, take the ring and insert it into the upper part of the cylinder. Push the piston ring in the lowest point of the stroke. Make sure that the ring is housed in the cylinder without skew, tightly clutching him for this piston head. Then, using a set of probes measure a backlash in the lock of a piston ring. Compare the result with the value given in the table. 2.8. Measure the clearance in all the rings. If the gap is too small, it can be increased carefully grind off the ends of the ring on a file, hamstrung;
- After completion of checking all the gaps in the locks of piston rings can be mounted on the pistons. First set the lower (oil scraper) ring, then the upper and lower compression. Note that the compression rings have different cross sections and therefore each of them must be installed in the groove intended for it and properly oriented. On one side of each compression ring is marked ?TOP?, determined by the parties, which should be located on top;

The dimensions used to calculate the preload bearing of the bottom head of a rod (only for engines ABU, ABD and AEA)
Fig. 2.22. The dimensions used to calculate the preload bearing of the bottom head of a rod (only for engines ABU, ABD and AEA)

- On engines ABU, ABD, AEA determine the pre-loading of bearings bottom heads of rods. To do this without liner temporarily install bearing cap on the bottom heads of rods rods. Calipers measure the diameter "a" of the bottom head of a rod (Fig. 2.22), then measure the outer diameter of the ?b? and calculate the bearing preload by subtracting the value obtained from ?a? value ?b?. Compare the result with that given in Table. 2.8. If it is less than the permissible minimum value, the bearings should be replaced.
