Overall control of the cooling system

If there is a fault in the cooling system, first check the coolant level in the expansion tank, tension auxiliary drive belt the coolant pump and the performance index of temperature.
If you start the engine warms up very slowly, it is possible to thermostat is in constantly open position. This can be determined by checking the pipe extending from the thermostat to the radiator. If it gets warmer immediately after starting the engine - so the thermostat is open. In this case it must be replaced.
If the engine overheats, the temperature of the upper arm, check radiator hose. If the temperature gauge gives readings at which the thermostat should open and the hose is cold, it is possible that the thermostat is in the closed position, and does not let the coolant to the radiator. In this case, the thermostat has to be replaced.
