Substitution coolant

When replacing the cooling liquid must be remembered that its concentration and quality not only prevents freezing of the liquid, but also raises the boiling point and protects the system against corrosion and scale formation on the walls of the channels. That is why even in the summer is not allowed to fill a conventional cooling system with fresh water. Choosing the right coolant extend the life of the entire cooling system.

A WARNING
Replacement of the cooling water in the engine is cold

Replacement of a cooling liquid in the following order:

Engine cooling system SOHC
Fig. 4.1. Engine cooling system SOHC: 1 - a radiator; 2 - the thermostat; 3 - connecting pipe; 4 - a broad tank; 5 - the top cover; 6 - the air intake; 7 - Mount the fan (EZ); 8 - Mount the fan (RV, RP); 9 - Mount the fan; 10 - additional fan; 11 - the drive belt; 12 - electric fan

- Unscrew the expansion tank cap 4 (see. Fig. 4.1);
- Place a container to collect the appropriate amount of coolant under the radiator;
on a vehicle equipped with power steering, remove the pump drive belt Power steering pump pulley, loosen the screws and turn the pump bracket up to facilitate access to the thermostat hoses and coolant pump;
- Disconnect the lower and the bypass hose from the thermostat housing 2 and the water pump on the left side of the engine and unscrew the thermostat and remove the thermostat;
- Drain the coolant into the prepared container.
- Reconnect all hoses and set the thermostat;
- Do not connect the power steering pump bracket and the belt as long as you fill the cooling system of the new coolant;
- Slowly fill in cooling liquid in a broad tank to a level just below the mark "MAX";
- Check the tightness of the lower and bypass hoses and connecting the thermostat to the pump of the cooling system;
- Establish an arm of the power steering pump and the drive belt;
- Replace the reservoir tank cover;
- Start the engine and let it run in the mode of the accelerated idle speed, before switching the electric fan cooling radiator;
- Turn off the engine and check the coolant level in the expansion tank. At normal operating temperature, coolant should be about tags "max";
- After the engine cools down again, check the coolant level.
