Removing and installing cylinder head (diesel engine of 1.9 liters)

The cylinder head of the diesel engine 1,9-TDI-I

1 - the cylinder head cover;
2 - oil filler cap. If the lid is leaking, replace the gasket;
3 - gasket. If the gasket is damaged, it must be replaced;
4 - Belleville washer;
5 - a nut, 10 Nm;
6 - cap;
7 - to the intake manifold;
8 - a collar;
9 - pressure control valve;
10 - a sealing sleeve. If damage is necessary to use a new sealing sleeve.
11 - a lining of the cylinder head cover;
12 - Hose crankcase ventilation;
13 - a bolt of fastening of the cylinder head. When installing it is necessary to use new bolts. The moments of a tightening of bolts are the same as in the four-cylinder gasoline engine;
14 - Clip;
15 - a sealing ring. When installing, use a new sealing ring;
16 - tapered sealing ring;
17 - pipelines feeding high pressure fuel to the fuel injectors. Replacement of pipes must be carried out complete. Do not bend pipes. Connecting pipelines tighten the nut to 25 Nm;
18 - cylinder head;
19 - cylinder head gasket;
20 - a bolt, 20 Nm;
21 - eye for engine lifting

Marking gasket cylinder head cover and the number of holes

All operations on removal and installation of the cylinder head of the diesel engine is the same as the operation for removing and installing the cylinder head gasoline four-cylinder engines. This section lists only the differences for diesel engines.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the timing belt.
2. Disconnect the bus supply voltage to the spark plugs.
3. Clean the pipe connections to the fuel injectors and high pressure fuel pump. Unscrew connecting nuts and remove the fuel. Close the holes with suitable plugs.
4. Remove the cylinder head of the glow plugs and fuel injectors.
5. To unscrew bolts of the cylinder head is necessary to use the appropriate Allen key (for example, HAZET 990 Sig-12).
6. Tightening the bolts of the cylinder head to produce the same sequence and the same moment, as in the four-cylinder petrol engines.
A warning

The cylinder head of the diesel engine should not be machined.

7. If the engine is equipped with new pistons, measure the protrusion of the pistons and the cylinder based on the amount of protrusion of the pistons is necessary to select the thickness of the new cylinder head gasket.

The protrusion of the pistons
Number of holes
0.66 - 0.86 mm
1
0.87 - 0.90 mm
2
0.91 - 1.02 mm
