Removing and installing steering column

NOTE
Welding and straightening work on supporting and guiding elements of the suspension is not allowed.
Self-locking nuts must be replaced.
Bolts and nuts subjected to corrosion must be replaced.

Withdrawal
The steering column is supplied as spare parts only in the assembly. Repair is not possible.

NOTE
Before replacing the steering column always perform "Adapting the control unit ELV?�.

ATTENTION
Before working on the equipment, and the steering wheel is necessary to follow these conditions.
Remove the negative terminal of the battery.
Wheels should stand straight.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in failure of the airbag system in a subsequent operation.

Set the wheels straight.
Pull the lever under the steering column down.
Tilt steering column as low as possible and pull.
The lever under the steering column press up again.
Remove the airbag from the steering wheel.
Remove the steering wheel.
Remove the cover plate facing the steering column control.
Remove the left cover on the driver's side.
Remove the steering column control.
Remove the air vents to the legs under the steering column.
Disconnect all the connectors and negative wires on the steering column.

Unscrew the mounting nuts and remove the trim Driver Leg 1 (Fig. 5.9).

Remove the bolt 1 and remove the universal joint 2 with a steering mechanism (Fig. 5.10).

Remove the cable channel 1 under the steering column (Fig. 5.11).
To do this, gently lift the presser foot and remove the duct from the guide on the steering column.
Remove the screws 2.
Slightly lower steering column and gently pull up.

ATTENTION
Ensure proper handling and transportation of the steering column.

Setting
Install the steering column in a jig on the support bracket.
Align the steering column with respect to the support bracket, and insert.

In this stud and the support bracket and the holes in the steering column, align and insert the pins into the holes (Fig. 5.12).
Only in this way ensures the correct mounting position of the steering column relative to the support bracket.
Tighten bolts 2 of the steering column (Fig. 5.11).
Install the cable channel 1 under the steering column.
The tabs guide should lock in on both sides.
Push the universal joint 2 on the steering gear and tighten the bolt 1 (fig. 5.10).
Install the trim in the footwell 1 and fasten with nuts (Fig. 5.9).
Connect all the connectors and negative wires on the steering column.
Install vents air supply to the legs under the steering column.
Install the steering column control.
Install the cover facing the steering column control.
Install the cover on the left side of the driver.
Install the steering wheel.
Position the airbag on the steering wheel.
Torque.
After that, follow the basic nastroykudatchika steering angle with a tester.
