Ribbed Belts

Ribbed belt drives the alternator, power steering pump, cooling fan and air conditioner compressor, depending on engine modifications.

Withdrawal
Disconnect "weight" from the storage battery.

A WARNING
Chalk, markers or paint mark the direction of rotation of poly V-belt. After setting the belt rotates in the opposite direction, which may result in its destruction.

When removing the V-ribbed belt is necessary to consider the following:

Units operated by a Poly-V belt
Fig. 3.3.25. Units operated by a Poly-V belt: 1 - radiator fan; 2 - bolt 10 Nm; 3 - ribbed belt; 4 - bolt 10 Nm and tighten 90 ?; 5 - a pulley-damper; 6 - bolt 25 Nm; 7 - bolt 25 Nm; 8 - the lever of a roller; 9 - remote bush; 10 - tensioner pulley; 11 - a bolt, 25 Nm; 12 - a sealing ring; 13 - bolt 25 Nm; 14 - the generator; 15 - V-belt tensioner; 16 - bolt 25 Nm; 17 - mounting sleeve; 18 - an arm; 19 - bolt 25 Nm; 20 - bolt 45 Nm; 21 - a bolt, 25 Nm; 22 - the bearing; 23 - pressure line for power steering; 24 - banjo bolt, 50 Nm; 25 - a sealing ring; 26 - the power steering pump; 27 - bolt 28 Nm; 28 - the holder; 29 - a pulley of power steering pump; 30 - bolt 25 Nm; 31 - bolt 25 Nm; 32 - a pulley viscous clutch fan radiator; 33 - viscous coupling radiator fan

1. During assembly bolts 2, 4, 13, 27 (Fig. 3.3.25) must be replaced.
2. In case of damage O-ring 12 must be replaced.
3. Bolts 19 (see. Fig. 3.3.25) bracket are tightened in sequence (Fig. 3.3.26).

4. The sealing ring 25 also need to be replaced.

Location screws heater exhaust pipe and additional heater noise insulation
Fig. 3.3.5. Location screws heater exhaust pipe and additional heater noise insulation

Unscrew the heater exhaust pipe and additional heater noise insulation (see. Fig. 3.3.5).

Location clamps securing the bottom mudguard of a motor compartment
Fig. 3.3.6. Location clamps securing the bottom mudguard of a motor compartment

Release clamps and remove the front and rear section of the bottom mudguard of a motor compartment (see. Fig. 3.3.6).
Drive by a separate air conditioner compressor Poly-V belt.

Location bolts tightening mechanism V-belt air conditioning compressor
Fig. 3.3.27. Location bolts tightening mechanism V-belt air conditioning compressor

Loosen the bolts tensioning poly V-belt air conditioning compressor (Fig. 3.3.27) and remove the belt from pulleys.

Location engine cover screws and the pointer (1) engine oil level
Fig. 3.3.2. Location engine cover screws and the pointer (1) engine oil level

Remove the index 1 (see. Fig. 3.3.2), the engine oil level.
Release clamps fastening, remove the three screws and remove the engine cover (see. Fig. 3.3.2).
Install the engine oil dipstick in place.

Setting
Fit the drive belt first on the crankshaft pulley and then on a pulley power steering pump, pulley tensioner pulley and viscous clutch fan radiator.

The direction of retraction tensioner V-ribbed belt
Fig. 3.3.28. The direction of retraction tensioner V-ribbed belt

Take the V-belt tension roller, for which a wrench for the bolt head counterclockwise turn the tensioner pulley (Fig. 3.3.28). Put the V-ribbed belt on the alternator pulley and release the tensioner pulley.

Adjusting the tension of the air conditioning compressor drive belt
Fig. 3.3.29. Adjusting the tension of the air conditioning compressor drive belt: VAG 1410 - a torque wrench; A - the bolts

Install the air conditioning compressor belt and adjust its tension. To do this, a torque wrench to the hex head belt tensioner air conditioning compressor in the "7 hours", create a pretension torque 30 Nm (fig. 3.3.29) and in this position, tighten the bolts tensioner to 25 Nm.

Location-ribbed belts on diesel engines of 1.9 liters
Fig. 3.3.30. Location-ribbed belts on diesel engines of 1.9 l 1 - the air conditioning compressor; 2 - V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley; 3 - a pulley viscous clutch fan radiator; 4 - generator; 5 - ribbed belt drives the power steering pump, alternator and radiator fan; 6 - the power steering pump; 7 - pulley-damper; 8 - V-ribbed belt tensioner air conditioning compressor; 9 - ribbed belt air conditioning compressor

When installing the V-ribbed belts, pay attention to its location right on the pulleys (Fig. 3.3.30).
Start the engine, check the location and fluidity belts.
