Checking and replacing the steering column switch



You will need: a screwdriver with a flat blade and Phillips.
1. Disconnect a wire from the plug "minus" of the storage battery.
2. Remove the steering wheel (see. "Removing and installing the steering wheel").
3. Remove the cover of the steering column (see. "Replacement of the contact group, the switch (lock) of ignition").
4. Squeeze the latches and remove the switch indicators and headlamps of the connector.
5. Squeeze the latch and disconnect the connector from the switch wiring harness.
6. Squeeze the clamp and disconnect the extra block.
7. Squeeze the latches and remove the switch of a cleaner and a windscreen washer from the connector ...
8. ... and detach the wiring harness connector by squeezing its lock.
9. Install the parts in reverse order of removal.
Removing the steering column switch assembly with a connector in the following order.
1. Disconnect a wire from the plug "minus" of the storage battery.
2. Remove the steering wheel (see. "Removing and installing the steering wheel").
3. Remove the steering column covers (see. "Replacement of the contact group, the switch (lock) of ignition").
4. Remove the four screws that secure the ...
5. ... and remove the lower trim dashboard.
6. Squeeze the latches and disconnect more ...
7. ... and a small pad harness slip ring airbag.
8. Disconnect the holder clamp slip ring harness from the bracket on the steering column.
9. Remove the four screws that secure the ...
10. ... and remove the slip ring airbag.
11. Remove the two screws securing the connector to the steering column.
12. Disconnect from the steering column switch wiring harness pads and separate additional pad switch indicators and headlamps.
13. Remove the steering column connector and detach the wire.
14. Install the parts in reverse order of removal.
Serviceability of the steering column switch is determined by checking the correctness of contact closure for different positions of the arms. Remove the switch to test and connect a test lamp 12V (current source) or avtotester with a "continuity" to the appropriate circuit terminals listed in Table. 10.7 and 10.8. Move the switch lever to the position corresponding verifiable contacts - lamp should illuminate. Otherwise, the switch is faulty.
