The steering column and steering shaft vehicles equipped with electric power steering system, shown in Fig. 5.13 and 5.14.
Withdrawal
Disconnect "minus" line ("-") from the battery.

Remove the driver airbag module by removing the bolts shown by the arrows in Fig. 5.15.

NOTE
By car without airbags remove facing the horn switch.

Loosen the nut of the steering wheel (Fig. 5.16).

Align the marks on the steering shaft and the steering wheel. Remove the steering wheel from the shaft with a puller (Fig. 5.17).

NOTE
Do not remove the steering wheel with a hammer - so you can damage the steering shaft.

Tighten the screws on the facing of the column cover

Remove the cowling of the steering column by removing the three screws indicated by arrows in Fig. 5.18.
Disconnect the connectors of the contact disc airbag module and the steering column control.

Remove the steering column control by clicking on it in the places indicated by arrows in Fig. 5.19.

Remove the lower instrument panel trim by removing the two screws (Fig. 5.20).

Remove the four screws on the arm of a steering shaft (Fig. 5.21).

Remove the bolt of the universal joint to the drive pinion steering mechanism (Fig. 5.22).

Remove the steering shaft assembly (Fig. 5.23).
Technical condition
Check the steering shaft for damage and deformation.
Check the shaft for the presence of gaps, damage and smooth movement.
Check the ball bearings for wear and damage.
Parsing and assembly
If necessary, remove the protective device do chisel groove under the screwdriver slot on the heads of special bolts.

Use a screwdriver to unscrew the two special bolts (Fig. 5.24).
Remove the locking device from the steering shaft.

When you install a protective device Loosely new special strengthened the bolts of the device, to the steering shaft (Fig. 5.25).
Tighten special bolts with a wrench to the cutting head.

Remove the bolts (12 mm) lower shaft to the steering column assembly and the upper shaft (Fig. 5.26).

Remove the lower shaft of the steering column assembly and the upper steering shaft (Fig. 5.27).
Reassembly is the reverse order.

Vehicles with electric power steering

Pin electric power steering

Disconnect the connector electric power steering (Fig. 5.28).

Tighten the screws on the electric power steering

Remove the electrical power by removing the three screws that secure (Fig. 5.29).
Reassembly is the reverse order.
Setting
Replace the steering shaft and "Loosely" four bolts.
Screw the bolt of the universal joint shaft to the drive pinion steering mecha-nism located behind the brake pedal.
Tighten the four "baited" screws on the steering shaft.
Install the instrument panel lower trim and tighten the two screws.
Install the steering column until it locks the steering column control.
Install the drive pin of the airbag module and connect the steering column control.
Install the upper and lower casing of a steering column and tighten the mounting screws.
Install the steering wheel and tighten the nut.
Install the air bag module and tighten the three screws.
Attach the "minus" line ("-") to the battery.
