Safety belt pre-tensioners (optional)

The car can be equipped with seat belts with pretensioners for the driver and front passenger. The appointment of such a belt is to ensure accurate fixing passenger in some cases in a frontal impact. The belt pretensioner can work individually as well as together with the airbags in a frontal impact of sufficient force.

Under normal circumstances, the seat belt pre-tensioners work in the same way as a belt with a standard lock mode (ELR). (In the case of sudden braking the car belt is blocked. It will also be blocked if the passenger leaned forward dramatically.) However, in the frontal impact medium or large power pretensioner instantly retracts the seat belt. This helps to clearly define the passenger seat belt, and to shorten the distance between them.

The system seatbelt pre-tensioners consists of the components shown in Figure 1.124.

NOTE
During operation pretensioners allocated a small amount of smoke and there is a strong cotton. These phenomena are normal and not dangerous. Despite the fact that the smoke is not toxic, it should not be inhaled as it may cause irritation or coughing. After tripping pretensioners wash your face and hands.

ATTENTION
After turning the ignition switch ?ON? (?On.") Control lamp additional system of passive safety SRS (airbags) flashes for about 6 seconds and then goes out. This is due to a fact that the sensor that activates the SRS airbag is included in the chain pretensioners.
This lamp also lights up when the safety belt pretensioners defective.

Seat belt pretensioners are designed for single use only. After tripping pretensioners change. All seat belts should be replaced after a car accident (crash), regardless of the type of belt.

ATTENTION
After tripping pretensioner assembly module of some parts will be hot. Do not touch them for a few minutes.
Do not attempt to test or replace the mechanisms of seat belts with pretensioners.
Do not strike the seat belt pretensioners. Do not attempt to service or repair the system seatbelt pre-tensioners.
