Dismantling

ATTENTION
Do not disassemble the outer CV joint "Birfilda BJ?.
For lubrication of CV joints drive shaft uses special grease. Do not mix old and new grease, as well as different types of grease.
After removing the clamps replace the new boot band.

Removing the clamp fastening of a protective cover
Fig. 3.121. Removing the clamp fastening of a protective cover

Remove collars of fastening of a protective cover inner CV joint and remove the protective cover from the inner CV joint outer ring (Fig. 3.121).

ATTENTION
Be careful not to damage the protective cover when removing.

Removing retaining ring
Fig. 3.122. Removing retaining ring

Use a flathead screwdriver, remove the retaining ring from the large outer ring SHRUS (Fig. 3.122).
Pull out the drive shaft from the outer CV joint cage.

Removing small retaining ring
Fig. 3.123. Removing small retaining ring

Remove the small retaining ring and the inner ring, remove CV joint assembly with a separator and balls (Fig. 3.123).
Clean the inner ring SHRUS and cage assemblies and balls, not looking knot.
Remove the protective cover of the outer clamps and CV joint protective cover from the housing outer CV joint.

Installing safety sticky tape
Fig. 3.124. Installing safety sticky tape

ATTENTION
If you plan to reinstall the boot band, wrap (plastic) with insulating tape of the spline shaft to avoid damaging the cover (Fig. 3.124).

Check
Check the inner CV joint outer race, inner race, cage and balls for damage or rust.
Check spline portion of the drive shaft for signs of increased wear.
Make sure there is no water, foreign particles, dirt or rust in the outer CV joint protective cover.

Cleaning the outside SHRUS
Fig. 3.125. Cleaning the outside SHRUS

ATTENTION
If you plan to reinstall the outer CV joint assembly, it does not remove the grease from it. Check for foreign particles in the lubricant SHRUS. If necessary, thoroughly clean the outer CV joint assembly from dirt and grease, then apply to the new CV joint grease (Fig. 3.125).

Assembly
Wrap (plastic) insulation tape splined part of the drive shaft to the inner CV joint, to avoid damaging the cover.
Grease the drive shaft and install the boot band.

Recommended lubricant
The outer CV joint (BJ): CENTOPLEX 278M / 136K.
The inner CV joint (DOJ): AMBLYGON TA 10 / 2A.

Driving secure dynamic damper
Fig. 3.126. Driving secure dynamic damper

To set the dynamic damper, keeping the outer CV joints and drive shaft so that they are in a straight line, secure the dynamic damper clamp at the locations specified in Figure 3.126.

Separator
Fig. 3.127. Separator

Apply special grease to the inner ring and the cage SHRUS. Set the separator so that the distance between it and the inner race shown in the figure corresponds to 3.127.

NOTE
Use the special grease from the repair kit.

Apply special grease to the inner CV joint cage and set the balls in the cage.

Installing an internal SHRUS
Fig. 3.128. Installing an internal SHRUS

Place the side (A) of the inner CV joint, as shown in Figure 3.128.
Install the inner race SHRUS on the drive shaft and secure with retaining ring.
Apply special grease the outer ring inner CV joints, install it on the drive shaft and secure with retaining ring.
Fill a special grease protective cover inner CV joint and set it in place.
Attach the protective cover inner CV joint clamps.
Add a special grease in the housing outer CV joint in an amount which corresponds to the amount of grease removed during the scan.
Install a protective cover of the outer CV joint.
Attach the protective cover of the external SHRUS collars.

Install clamps protective covers
Fig. 3.129. Install clamps protective covers
