Removal, check and installation of the Front Wheel Drive Shaft
Withdrawal Raise the vehicle and remove the front wheel. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the nut on the drive shaft to the wheel hub. Drain the oil from the gearbox.
With a plastic hammer, disconnect the drive shaft from the hub (Fig. 3.116). Pull the wheel hub out of the car and separated from it by drive shaft.

|
Insert a pry bar between the transmission case and the case of CV joints drive shaft, and then remove the drive shaft from the gearbox (Fig. 3.117).
ATTENTION Be careful when disconnecting the drive shaft via the mount, do not damage the gearbox housing and shaft constant velocity joints. To avoid damage to the gland not insert pry too deep (maximum 7 mm). Do not pull the drive shaft with considerable effort, since this operation will cause damage to internal parts SHRUS "Birfilda BJ? or "Tripod TJ? drive shaft (tear or damage to the bearing cover).
|
ATTENTION With a special plug, close the hole in the gearbox to prevent ingress of dirt and foreign particles. Firmly hold the drive shaft. Always replace the snap ring (retainer ring) after disconnecting the drive shaft of the transmission. |
Check
Check the dust cover SHRUS drive shaft for damage and deterioration of the technical condition. Check the ball joints in the absence of increased wear and mobility. Check spline portion of the drive shaft (hubs) in the absence of increased wear or damage. Check the dynamic damper for damage or cracks.
Setting Grease gear oil splined drive shaft and the contact surface of the differential housing (gearbox). Before installing the drive shaft, place the lock ring so that the lock had been sent down. After installing the drive shaft check that the shaft is securely fixed and can not be removed by hand.
