Removal, disassembly, inspection and assembly of power steering pump
Withdrawal Disconnect the pressure hose from the power steering pump.
Disconnect the inlet hose from the coupling flange on the steering pump and drain into a suitable container (Fig. 5.60). Remove the pump drive belt pulley power steering pump. Fully unscrew the bolts and power steering pump belt tension adjustment screw pump drive. Remove the power steering pump assembly.
Dismantling
Remove the connecting flange of the inlet hose and O-ring with power steering pump (Fig. 5.61). Remove the cam ring. Remove the rotor and blades. Remove the side plate.
NOTE When assembling the pump set a new cover gasket and pump new washers. |
Pinch the drive pulley of the pump in a vise, unscrew the nut and remove the spring washer (Fig. 5.64). Remove the pulley from the drive shaft of the pump.
Remove the retaining ring using the snap ring pliers, then remove the spacer-boot (Fig. 5.65). Easy blows of a plastic hammer to knock the rotor drive shaft of the pump.
| Fig. 5.66. Removing the oil seal from the housing steering pump
|
Use a screwdriver to remove the seal from the power steering pump housing (Fig. 5.66).
NOTE When assembling the pump, always install a new oil seal. |
Remove the fitting body from the power steering pump, then remove the valve controlling the flow of fluid and a valve spring (Fig. 5.67). Remove the O-ring from the union.
ATTENTION Do not disassemble the valve controlling the flow of fluid. |
Remove the spring and remove the plug. Remove the O-ring from the gauge-switch fluid pressure.
Check Check valve spring length regulating fluid flow in a free state (no load). The length of the valve spring in a free state: 36.5 mm. Check valve controlling the flow of fluid for deformation (bending). Check the pump drive shaft for wear or damage. Check the pump drive belt for wear or deterioration. Check the "stepped" wear blades and rotor slots. Check the "stepped" wear on the contact surface of the blades and the cam ring. Check for damage on the blades. Check the wear tracks on the side plate or the contacting portions between the drive shaft and the pump cover.
Assembly Install the gauge-switch fluid pressure. Install the valve spring, the valve controlling the flow of fluid in the body and fitting the power steering pump.
Using a special tool, install the new oil seal in the power-steering pump housing (Fig. 5.69). Insert the drive shaft of the pump assembly into the enclosure power steering pump, then install the spacer-boot and lock ring.

|
Install the pulley and the woodruff key on the drive shaft of the pump (Fig. 5.70). Install the spring side of the plate, the inner and outer ring spacers.
| Fig. 5.71. Installation of a spring and washers
|
Install the locking pins into the holes of the pump housing, then set the cam plate, with particular attention to the correct mounting direction. Set the rotor so that the side with the label was located on the side of the side plate.
| Fig. 5.72. Installation of the rotor blades of the pump
|
Install the blade so that their ends are rounded outside (on the side of the cam disc) (Fig. 5.72). Place the gasket and pump cover assembly. Install washer and coupling flange inlet hose.
Setting After installation of the pump bracket and put on the pump pulley drive belt and adjust its tension. Tighten the bolt tension adjustment regulated torque. Tightening torque: 35-50 Nm. Connect the inlet hose. Tighten the discharge hose to the power steering pump.
NOTE When installing the discharge hose to make sure it is not twisted, and there is no possibility of contact with other parts of the vehicle. |
Fill the power steering hydraulic system Recommended fluid PSF-3. Remove air from the hydraulic power steering. Check the pressure of the power steering pump.
